I think people need to understand that if you want gear from a dungeon, then you need to queue as the job that can 'Need' that gear. Asking others to pass for you doesnt meant they should have to if they dont want to. Also, cursing someone out in any situation is considered harassment and should be reported. The more people who report harassers, the less we'll have to deal with it.

The proper way to ask is "If nobody needs the healer gear, could you pass on it because I could put it to use?" Then if people roll, assume they needed it too.

If you desperately want a piece of loot, then you should queue up in that role.

Venting? I would've been getting my laughs in the whole run, that guy was a joke.

He is not to blame, his response is fine. It is a dungeon run, you want healer gears, come as healer, stop trying to DPS everything. Otherwise just loot it, you can get level 100 gears from farming Syrcus Towers anyway. OP probably plays on American or European server, hardly ever have to deal with trolls on Japan server. People just know their roles and do their jobs properly, it's priceless.

Sounded like the nin just wanted a circus for his friends.

... how is what OP said rude at all. "No, I'm not going to pass on anything". He doesn't need to explain himself, he isn't being rude. He is denying the request and letting them know he's going to need/greed what he can. He has every right to the dungeon drops as anyone else, and he isn't obligated to honor requests from someone who wants gear that isn't on their class. Sorry kids, but if you want healer gear, queue as a healer. I could *maybe* understand if it was a healer asking for ninja drops bc dps queues suck, but that's not he case here. Get off of tumblr and stop being so offended by the way normal people communicate, jesus.

They did not say the magic word.

That's not rude at all, though. It's a simple, matter of fact statement. The ninja asked him to pass, he said no, and it should have been left at that. It's not like he said "fuck no" or "lol yeah right noob," he simply stated that no, he would not pass. He's under no obligation to pass just because a random person in a dungeon asked if he would. If the ninja wanted healer gear that badly, he should've queued healer. In any case, does it matter if he also needs the gear? I roll on whatever I can get to turn it in for seals because of the sheer volume of things that are now in the relic and crafting tool processes that use them, not to mention ventures. How is someone else's need for glamour gear for a class they aren't even on any different than my need for GC seals?

Sounds to me like you (and a few others) are reading way too much into what he said.

Even a simple "no" would've been fine, doesn't need any explaining. But I do hope you reported that person for insulting (I would've reported them all).

And I do agree with most of the people that if you really want specific gear, you go as that job or with a group of friends. Simple as that.

I think OP could have been a little more polite in their denial, but I don't think there was anything wrong with them saying no if they wanted that gear too. There is also nothing wrong with a dps asking for healer gear regardless whether or not they say please or thank you, but they could have probably been a little more polite in asking too. Personally, I don't blame the nin for being put off by the OP's answer, because I would have been too, but if the nin felt the need to troll the entire run and then kick because of it, then they should have been reported for their behavior because that was way out of hand.

If someone asks and I don't need it, I'll pass. If someone makes an outright demand (or if it's painfully obvious that their 'polite request' is really a thinly-veiled demand, ie. making the request while trolling the loot list by refusing to roll until either I leave or the chest times out) then I'll very likely roll on it regardless if I need it or not. Unless it's been explicitly discussed and agreed to by all party members prior to the run or fight in question that this particular drop belongs to this particular player, then they are not any more entitled to it than anyone else there.
