I do currently have 83 anima at the moment ingame, and I play for hours per day every day. I am speaking for those who cannot seem to manage it so well, and have no alternative but to shut the game down if they'd rather not do DoL/DoH.

Because I don't honestly see what it would hurt to try and retain some of the playerbase in saying, "Sure, go on out and bounce around the globe killing things/exploring if that's your thing -- you're happy, I'm happy".

Why don't they make all teleports free? Because people would bitch about it. They'd say "OMG you're making it too EZ mode!". Also they likely want to keep a restriction on it so people will actually use other means of transportation. Why walk when you can teleport? Why ride a chocobo when you can teleport? Why ride the airship when you can teleport?

It worked alright in Guild Wars but only because it was like that from the beginning (as far as I know) and the maps were packed to the brim with enemies so having to navigate them to get anywhere every time would get tedious and boring quite fast.

I say tough beans for those people. Sorry they can't curb their impatience.

A.) Because there are more important things to worry about, and once those more important things to worry about are addressed, anima teleportation will no longer be an issue.

B.) Because what's the point of having this huge semi-seamless world if all anybody does is zip zop zoobidy bop to wherever they wanna go all the time?

Also the maps are smaller, and everything in Guild Wars is instanced, so there's never a chance of unexpected player interaction when you're out in the field.

Which is another point I hadn't considered. You miss out on those chance encounters as you travel and explore if you teleport everywhere. It makes the world seem less alive.

Arcell, why did we have Outpost warps/Chocobos/Airships in XI when we had teleports? Why were the former two still used, at least to my knowledge, fairly regularly in 2010? Teleporting, even when you can do it yourself anytime and anywhere you like, is close, but not the 'be all end all' of transportation. It's not about convenience either -- it's about having an alternative that isn't quite as fast as porting, but not nearly as slow as walking.

@B.) Because now, after the Leve-boom has subsided, there is an actual world to experience that (somewhat) requires you to leave the confines of Thanalan, for one.

Ah, but the those teleports were very restrictive. There were only five specific points in the world where you could teleport to, and only white mages of a certain level or higher were able to cast those spells. The teleport spells of FFXI were a different animal than the aetheryte system of FFXIV.

And how do you experience that world if you can instantly teleport back and forth across it at will?

How many people even know that Coerthas and Mor Dhona share a boundary, and you don't have to run through Black Shroud to get from one to another?

Good point. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there are 5 major regions of Eorzea, right? Why not give us that option? And giving all classes the ability to teleport at a high rank, say 45, would that work? What if we just had free ports and a cooldown of 1 hour or something? Most places you go in this game will take at least that to complete what you intend to do once you've arrived.
