They started to with FC housing being able to put out 3 retainers.
Maybe bazaars or a retainer system may appear for players too. If they added a search tool that could "lightup" players selling what you need, that would be great too.
That isn't a bazaar though. It's just items listed from the AH.
That said I agree with sanjuro. Bazaars would be nice. Specifically the retainers you mentioned Magis. I would love them to have a bazaar and for it to have 2 settings. Public or Private. Private would be for FC members only. This would be a great way for us to "sell" items to our FC that we grow in the garden and whatnot. Money can be dumped right into the guild bank directly.
I mostly sell higher value items myself, never really selling anything I can't get 10k for. So 40 slots is fine for me.
The retainer on the lawn thing is more of a cosmetic thing than functional. The retainers don't sell anything you can't just walk up to the market board and get. Literally, their stocks are listed in both places

I have to disagree with the OP, I like this, it forces you to price competitively or else you run out of space. Makes it more difficult for people to manipulate markets buy hording and reselling...Please please do not change this,it is is one of the things I love about this game.
The problem with bazaars is finding who is selling the things you need. A bazaar is tied to a character, and a character can be anywhere in the world. Even if you find one selling something you want, there's no easy way to compare prices on what that character is selling.
Unless these problems are solved, please, PLEASE no bazaars. FFXI had a bazaar system, and lots of items that could ONLY be sold on bazaar, not on the general auction house. The only way you could effectively SELL under this system is to park your AFK character in one of the unofficial bazaar selling areas (which at its worst got so congested SE had to ban bazaars within certain areas for a time) for hours or days at a time. The only way you could effectivley BUY under this system was to spend a half hour or more examining bazaar after bazaar, often ending up never finding what you're looking for at all (or finding it vastly overpriced).
However... if these problems ARE solved, what, exactly, makes a bazaar any different from a marketboard?
I honestly have a hard time understanding why anyone would be enthusiastic about a bazaar system. The marketboards work wonderfully well just as they are.
I wouldn't mind seeing a Rolanberry Bazaar AH again for hard to get items where you don't wanna take the AH hit.
I mentioned this on another thread! and all I was met with was a couple people saying it would destroy the economy :P
I still think this is the single most beneficial thing they could do for the market board right now. So frustrating that you cant buy the amount you need :P
Personally I think 80 slots is fine, I really just wish that the 3rd and 4th retainers didn't cost real money. Feels like a cheap money grab bordering pay to win but that's besides the point. I went as long as I could without getting the additional retainers but eventually caved for the same reason in the OP, 40 slots on the mb just wasn't enough for me. Odds are that's part of the design since they want people to buy additional retainers.
As for being able to purchase smaller amounts of somebodies stack of materials. I'm in 100% disagreement with that. To me it would mean having to sit at the retainer and update prices for a longer period of time because somebody only bought 50 of my stack of 99 then I got undercut. Basically allowing this would make it so that the lowest price is ALWAYS the best deal where right now you might decide to pay a little more for a smaller quantity, you think undercutting is bad now, this would make it worse.

I think the economy would be fine, hell it's how it used to be in Market Wards in 1.0I mentioned this on another thread! and all I was met with was a couple people saying it would destroy the economy :P

You have it completely backwards. Because of the item slot restriction there is low supply for low level items of which there is also low demand (crafting materials used in very few recipes). In low supply and low demand situations it is extremely easy to buy everything that's up and resell it for massively inflated prices. This change will increase the supply of many items and with an increased supply it becomes much harder to buy, markup, and resell.I have to disagree with the OP, I like this, it forces you to price competitively or else you run out of space. Also, pricing competitively requires a competitive market. Lower supply creates less competition which creates inconsistent prices for everyone.
If you are afraid of price gouging then you definitely want the item restriction removed as well. Having a limited amount of selling slots does NOT decrease prices, it decreases what's available to buy.
You are complaining that prices will increase yet someone else complained that they'll fall. Fortunately for you the other guy was right - but he was worried about losing "profits" which he was wrong about.
