Not fun after a 45 min wait. And no its not my connection.

You get what you pay for!
Square-Enix can't do anything for you. This is a hardware limitation, Sony would be the one to direct your concerns to.
If you live in the US, under US law you are allowed to upgrade computer parts (including consoles), without the manufacturer voiding your warranty. Parts like Hard Drives, removable memory.
One solution is to fork up about $100 for an Solid State Drive with considerable capacity and swap it into your ps3.
A better solution is to get a ps4.
The best solution is to get a PC with DX11 gaming specs.

This happens to me on my crap computer...so, yeah.
Yeah, it sucks. Oh well.

That stinks. The server see's you there, but your hardware doesn't so you can't interact with the GUI. They need an option to auto-commence when DF shings. However I can see that being heavily abused and misused. Q > Auto-commence > tab out watch netflix(whatever) > come back later.
However you could come back to being kicked if you take too long.
Hard battle to win this one is.

Upgrade the HDD to SSD, thats what I did and it works great.
Fast load times across the board, hell faster then my PC friends when we're playing together
Oh i have a 220GB pure SSD in my PS3, got it £100 pre-owned over a year ago.

I'm using just a regular new ps4 and I load faster than the large majority of people I see

They could put it to 60 seconds instead of 45 seconds, this would help a lot of PS3 users or people with slower computer. Heck - 90 seconds would be more than adequate. Or they can put so that the UI will be visible over the zone change and take precedence. Better yet, give PS3 and slow PC users the option to TURN OFF visibility of players who are not in their party or friend list to be ZERO, aka gone. No need to load those players at all...

While there's little SE can do to improve PS3, they COULD extend the time limit on the Commence window.
It's understandable that SE wouldn't want to increase this wait time frivolously, in this case it's an actual hardware limitation of a platform that they support. It makes good sense for them to extend the time limit accordingly.
False. Square can do something. Give people more than 45 seconds so that the slower consoles THAT SQUARE CHOSE TO SUPPORT can still use the game correctly.

PS3 is painfully slow. I upgraded to PS4 when it came out and am very happy, only place I have really long load times is Mor Donuts at about 15-20 seconds.
