i mean arent we playing roleplay game?

unless roleplaying means ppl with large Roleplay history
While it is true that we are playing what is called a "Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game", or "MMO" for short, many people do not play the roles of their characters and instead play the game as designed.

What Roleplayers do is put themselves in the roles of their characters, speaking as if the players were their characters.

A typical MMO player might say "LFG AV Run! PST!"

A Roleplayer looking for the same thing may instead say, "Attention! I request the assistance of some fellow adventurers in braving the treacherous depths of the Aurum Vale to discover the whereabouts of missing miners! Who's with me!?"

Roleplayers are more akin to actors in a performance than an audience to be catered to exclusively by the game. Many roleplayers put on player-run special events in the game, the housing system has allowed for a number of unique shops, bars, or other hangout locations to be accessible beyond the Adventurer's Guilds, and I am sure there will be much more on the way.

In my opinion, Roleplayers are often the foundation of any MMORPG, as they often have the most time and energy devoted to the game, not only playing these roles of their characters, but also trying to play the actual game as well. Sometimes, the developers of an MMORPG have even watched their roleplaying community carefully and have adopted unexplained aspects of the game's lore invented by that community as canon. Being a roleplayer in an MMORPG is something that, I feel, causes an MMORPG to be a lot more enjoyable for that reason.

Damn, i wish i could warp from server to server like the wow cross group feature, so i could hang out with my guild and going in a RP realm if i want to.

I approve of this idea. There's been a few times I've just wanted to nosey on RP in the Quicksand rather than participate but someone has come up to me and I didn't want to be rude and say I didn't feel like roleplaying. Though I will say I had a few great experiences this way!

I very much approve of this! Brynhildr has a small RP population and some of my alt characters I RP are In Character most of the time. Even when I'm being "casual" the character itself comes through and it's fun as my character's personality always shines through and I have one character that will randomly flirt IC with other players. I'd love it as well to find other RPers, my RP free company needs more money for their large house ;-; Need to find more people willing to contribute. It seems like my FC and LS are the only ones that really RP sometimes...

Would love this icon as well. It's hard to find ppl to hit on in limsa or moar donuts when they are not interested!

Why did the conversation on this die? This is still a wonderful Idea I think.

That would be a nice feature. On an alt I had (due to the name) I had alot of role players ask me if I was role playing(I wasnt). This would be a nice feature to to see if people are in "character" or not.

I can only imagine some people's responses may not have been as kind if they were in my position. Which might explain the dwindling RP population in gilgamesh? I remember listening to many RPer do their things, but that's died down significantly. And yes, I like to eaves drop, lool
