    IMO SMN is supposed to be an amazing magic based job with power so great that it rivals that of primals...the act of summoning a mere fraction of a primal's power alone should make the job feel powerful...but it doesn't...it just feels flat...I don't mind the egi's but I hate that the overall feel of the job is very simplistic...no real power no real status when compared to other DD's...
    I don't want them to make SMN like it was in XI...I want XIV version to feel as powerful and as awesome as XI version was...a redesign of the egi's and/or spells...make it stand out.

    Maybe I didn't pay enough attention, but I never understood the lore defense of the egis. Correct me if I'm wrong, but even if we did summon full primals:
    A) Without the massive ammount of crystals that beastmen gather for summonings, they should not be as large/aether consuming (assuming of course that they eat aether to sustain themselves and that their body sizes should dictate how much they need). Like another topic said: roughly 25-30% the size and scale of the primal should suffice, 50% for limit breaks (if they ever became class/job specific).
    And B) When a primal dissapears, all the aether they've absorbed returns to the land. So unless a summoner keeps his Egi out 24/7 there shouldn't be any adverse effects, right?

    Yes I said I wanted XI's version but this says it better! if I wanted to play a DOT class, I'd have stayed in wow with my warlock....current XIV summoner feels worse then that tho too

    last time I checked the 2.5 trailer, Iceheart is still alive and kicking so we should be fine inheriting primal powers for a short duration - at the very least.
    I hope they look into the dynamic of this class, actively switching the egis for certain bonuses and quick adaption would make this class so much more fun.

    I don't think SMN is broken. Could it use improvements no doubt but I wouldn't say it is unplayable.

    What I would like to see is the following -
    Fester no longer removes Aether stacks. It would allow for better mana since we could use Energy Drain and wouldn't impact SCH in anyway.
    Enkindle needs a 2min GCD not 5.
    Tri-Disaster would be better reworked. Even solo'ing Peiste's I never use it.

    I do agree with your above post, however I think summoner still needs a bit more than what you state as well.

    I would rather see an increase in our piety to mana conversion which would increase the amount of mana returned by aetherflow per minute and increase the in combat mana regeneration tick. Those two alone would lessen the need for energy drain and wouldn't need to change anything. Enkindle on a shorter cooldown would be alright, 2 minutes might be the most I would agree to lower it too because of spur being a 2 minute cooldown, making enkindle always 80% stronger. Tri-Disaster, I think summoners as a whole should have a separate thread to discuss this skill and see if we can be creative in its uses. A 20 second bind could be nice to keep adds off healers if tanks mess up.
