This is a joke right? I'm currently 20+/0. The 25 or 26 (whichever I'm on) Alexandrites I've gotten, have all been through my purchase/maps.

Then you are not properly equipped. You have to have your weapon to the stage where you need Alex. Not before and not after. You need to actually be on that stage in the upgrades. If you have done that many fates with 0 Alex then you are still working on books and not yet at that stage, or you don;t have the weapon equipped while doing the fate.

I've been getting mountains of soldiery after the patch, especially from fates. Use soldiery + fates + daily quest for your weapon, save seals to upgrade your gear. You'll get Novus a little slower, but you have both in the end. As opposed to rushing to get your relic upgraded a little faster, but then having no upgraded gear to show for it.

I am currently trying to upgrade my relic weapon - the lovely alexandrite phase - and as I participate in hunts and buy maps with tomes and the daily (I've lost three maps trying to solo the treasure mobs), I'm starting to wonder if spending allied seals on alexandrite is worth it at this point. I would much rather use those allied seals to get carbon twine to upgrade my ironworks gear.

I haven't rewlly ventured into the coils to do this btw.

Any thoughts?

You can farm FATEs, do the daily quest or use tomes to buy maps to get alexandrites.

(I have two Zodiac sets and 76+ alexandrites, some from random FATEs)

This is incorrect. You can obtain Alexandrite from FATEs as long as you have a Relic weapon equipped at the Animus stage or any stage afterwards. This is because players have the ability to respec their weapon if they decide they want a different set of stats, and it would not be fair for players to lose access to one of the methods of obtaining Alexandrite simply because their weapon had evolved.

To obtain Atmas, you must be using a Relic Zenith, but this is because Atmas are ONLY useful for upgrading from Zenith to Atma. Alexandrites are potentially useful for any Relic from Animus on up and therefore can be obtained using weapons at any of those stages.

I got 25 alexandrites in 5 hours doing fates

That's rather presumptuous of you. I am on that stage and I am properly equipped, as the only weapon I have that's over ilvl 80 is my Yoshi. Animus. I farmed fates for another 3 hours last night and still have yet to receive a single Alexandrite for my efforts. I'm beginning to think either the people making these claims have the luck of a god, or they're blowing smoke...

I take that back I have my Sphairai Atma, but the last time I had Mnk on was 8-9 months ago.

Okay but the part where you have to be at least TO that stage is correct though, right? It can't be ATMA stage? has to be Animus or higher? That's the point I was trying to drive home but it is good to know you can still farm even after the Animus stage XD
