I am single as well (gentleman)...Shall we date? <3

It really is quite extraordinary how so many of you come here only to diss, to complain about stupidity, to make fun of, to personally insult; obviously not liking the subject, some not even involved in the matter - and yet, in all your hostility/ignorance/displeasure, you've been contributing to keeping this thread alive. I suppose that should deserve a thank you, but since you don't care (despite your best efforts to make it seem like you do), I'm not gonna offer you one. I do thank those who actually wrote about valid and relevant points though.
On topic... If you fail to see how details like this might alienate people - I hope your kids, if you ever have any, won't turn to you asking "why is it always a boy and a girl?" when they're watching or reading their favourite fairy tales. Because regardless of your views about it and how you might be able to explain it away, it'll mean they will have been made uncomfortable and bad. Is it making a mountain out of a molehill right here? Yes, perhaps; but it is these small steps that can be done to change things.
Yes, there are cultural differences. In real life. However, this is a fantasy world, so why transfer those in there? Also, if it's such an issue, then SE should just make up their mind about which audience they want to cater to (the Japanese or the Western), and stick with it. Because, obviously, wanting to cater to both doesn't work: it doesn't only show in this specific issue, but in others as well, for example the Heavensturn event did make me wonder just how many people have any idea what hitsuji, or a bugyo, or any other Japanese-named thing was, which are obviously no-brainers for the Japanese. Valentine's day in itself is not a Japanese thing to begin with, yet the in-game event itself very much goes by the Japanese traditions. Kind of convoluted already, but if it's so much the Japanese culture they want to base everything on, then why not have a White Day event as well? See the picture? The game is marketed and available internationally, and though (at least the majority of) the dev team itself is Japanese, they do get around the world enough and see a lot of it. Yet so many aspects seem to be focused on Japan, in design and/or the obvious audience they aim at. All the while it is a fantasy world, very loosely based on our own real one.
And for those saying "go play the game", "it's a minor seasonal event nobody's gonna remember in a week", etc - I'm not gonna say sorry either. Not everyone plays the same way. You play for progression, you wanna get through everything as fast as possible, you click through conversations and skip cutscenes, you want to get all the loot (could say "it's just a piece of gear you're gonna drop quite soon") - that's fine. Some others play for the story though, the immersion, the characters, the events. Your complaints about which job needs tweaking to be able to to execute one more action to do 10pt more damage in whatever raid is not any less or more valid than the complaints of those who couldn't care less about the ilevel of the drops from the latest ultimate mode primal.
^This is all I got out of that long string of textI need a game to validate my sexuality and real life choices, how dare a culture cater to their own and not by western standards IN A VIDEO GAME!? Even with the major changes to Eternal Bonding, quest NPCs and other things representing me, other people may complain about interracial problems and token black characters but who cares about them!? MY PROBLEMS MATTER MORE THAN ANYTHING AND IF I CAN'T GET WHAT I WANT, NONE OF YOU SHOULD ENJOY THE GAME EITHER!
^Because the last time that happened, it was when Eternal Bonding was announced and you complained about it not catering to you or western standards, when SE said "No" and then said "We'll see what happens based on what the community wants"

You said it yourself.
Enjoy your character as you wish with those around you, you have the freedom and the tools to do so, but also respect the vision of the writers as this is their work, not ours. They designed the NPCs to be the way they are, while also mentioning during the quest that the Valentione's celebration isn't just about male-female couples. Accept it, enjoy the story and the characters as they are, and let it go (no Frozen jokes, plz).

You got more out of it than me. As far as I can tell, he's trying to call attention to his preferences in the same way some of the more extreme feminists would snap at a man for holding a door open for them when they're right behind the guy. Yes, I've seen it happen.
Not everything needs to be centered around a specific thing. You're asking to have something changed that could easily be swapped about and no one would notice a difference.
Also I think Lisette was inviting my female character to have relations with her. There's you homosexual couple right there. FluttershyxLisette
And do me a favor. Tell me how catering to your side wouldn't offend some of the people against it. Even if there was a balance in it, part of the storyline would offend different groups. What they have is a no-win situation.

^Seriously? Damn, someone does something nice for them and they snap at people for holding a door? I'd slam it in their face if that ever happened to me.

You can stop right there. You're acting like this one event somehow negates all their previous displays of support of the gay community, such as allowing for Eternal Bonds regardless of sex or the introduction of gay characters in story quests. I can't think of too many other popular games of late that include such things. As you've said, you're making this a bigger deal than it needs to be.

I found it hilarious. She was screaming about how the guy must've thought that just because she was a girl, that she couldn't open the door herself. The sad part is, men do also afford some rights. If one is kindly opening the door, the only thing appropriate would've been "thank you" or "you can go on." They need to earn their respect before they can start earning ours, and this childish prattle like the OP of this thread are the people who make people look down on LGBT groups. You look down on us as seeing us being oppressive against your rights, but then DEMAND that your rights should be more important to than ours with no thought to any consequences that might occur in the future.
Just sit back and think for a moment about how you're going about this. Rather than posting a long-winded argument that SE is suppressing homosexuality, come up with some suggestions for future events that could be done. Activities that would bolster the community, and make people come together.
In the end, all we are are human.
