The servers in 14 do function similar to wow...

SE calls its clusters, Blizzard calls it battlegroup, its the same thing, its like trying to do DF, you only get lumped in the same cluster, wow does the same thing with the battle group, just blizzard actually pumps a huge ton of money to make this work.

Blizzard haven't had battle groups since about wrath. All servers can play with one another even in separate datacentres. battle.net is more than the game it covers all Blizzard games so it was worth their time investing presumably millions to integrate the battle.net stuff.

Actually I'm 99% sure they changed it to where PvP queues up with all battlegroups because queue times were getting bad, they did this to make it better.
I'm pretty sure they made the change apply to PvE as well.

So WoW has battlegroups(clusters) but they literally mean nothing anymore.
