Obvious troll is obvious.
Those who want FFXI are playing FFXI. Those who want something different and a next generation MMO are hopeful for FFXIV's future. It's that simple.

I can understand how some old ways are still good but get with the times people... The extent of FFXI was a fun game but WoW(2 years later?) easily pushed it down the stairs with the other thrash by adding what FFXI failed to have. Even the grinding of mobs is NOT accepted by majority of the world...Why do I say that? read any interview about MMOs and how many say "OMG Killing the same mob over and over is EPIC!" Most also want a decent paced battle system unlike the ffxi old man system. People are having these "Mid-Life Crisis" so to speak and yes things have changed...People aren't holding huge stereos and bopping down the street anymore. I still have yet to read any reason that made me think "Hmmm, I never saw it like that, xp loss would be great!" Why? because there isn't one to say... I try to be empathetic in all situations when someone based their opinion and these opinions don't increase the challenge at all.

oh i see. get beat up on your argument and start calling them trolls, lol.
you think a dungeon is going to save this game?
hint hint;
in WoW dungeons are dynamic because you can jump, swim, fight underwater, travel through the air, get knocked to different elevations, all in real time. WoW's dungeon system was designed around the game, from the start. the FF mmo cannot compete with WoW dungeons because it is a stuck-on-rails type of game.
Penalty won't do anything else but bother people and that including people who want it more than "make you feel more real". Just imagine instanced PVP, if they add such instance, and how many times you will die without your SP buffer and how many ranks you will lose. Seriously think twice before asking such a thing.
Everytime I read that somebody "liked" the EXP penalty in FFXI, or any other game, I think of this person as either a complete hypocrite or a total masochist.
if you want to get real, just turn that computer off and go outside. As somebody said, go real life and see how's death penalty there and how hardcore it will make you feel in a coffin. It's a game and it should be meant to be fun, not annoy people.
Have SE make a poll about this and watch the results and then we can all laugh all together.
lol
you immature EMOtional children are so easy to spot. you just can't handle a factually correct argument. go on now, race to end game, little one.
No, this is the response you give when you're beat up on your argument:
I said you were trolling because you said that same old '(Insert made up figure here)% of people want FFXI-2!'
It's a start.
Which is exactly why I've been active in the 'jump' debate. The modern concepts you mentioned, combined with classic FF concepts (dungeons are a FF concept, making them instanced and moving through them as opposed to camp/pulling is a modern concept), that will only serve to improve this game.in WoW dungeons are dynamic because you can jump, swim, fight underwater, travel through the air, get knocked to different elevations, all in real time. WoW's dungeon system was designed around the game, from the start. the FF mmo cannot compete with WoW dungeons because it is a stuck-on-rails type of game.

At first I dismissed Rowyne's arguements, but upon reading the last post I went through and read everything that you were trying to suggest, and I have to admit...You're right, combining the old FF style of gameplay with new modern concepts is the only middle ground we are going to find with this game. I hope the best for this thread. But instanced dungeons will be best served by add'ing a ff:xiii-esque (or zelda) jumping style. pressing the space bar, or pressing forward to a point where I'm automatically jumping doesn't really make much of a difference to me...or the majority of casual players I'm guessing.
this dude right here is way too funny lol he's one of those people who needs a game to feel better about himself xD oh boy... well as long as FFXI is still running, he has a reason to live lol
