That's gotta be the stupidest argument I've seen on this forum yet. Even more stupid that the guy suggesting a varient of BCNMs.

How can you make such a comparison like that? Of course people are dying more often in this game because there is no penalty for dying in the first place! People are more careless when there's less to worry about. That's why this whole thread was created in the first place.

I am very disappointed with the lack of common sense on this forum.

Come on man, don't be so harsh. Yeah I get you, but insulting the person isn't making anything better. Hell, I quit the game over it being too easy but I'm still not cutting anybody down over it. If you don't like somebody's ideas, don't respond to them. If you REALLY don't like somebody's ideas, counter them (their ideas that is) with your own ideas, and make sure it's done in a proper and intelligent manner.

We're trying to fix a broken game and looking like an ass isn't going to help anybody at this point.

I'm a hardcore player but I think you guys are on another level with it. Kinda like the people that want their Girl to beat on them for some sort of thrill. Seriously...I said it before I'll say it again. For ANY MMO to TRULY be successful they must attract the Harcore as well as the Casuals. There must be a balance. The truest statement I ever heard was TOO much of a good thing always turn bad. exp loss(just like XI) will make a good amount of the casuals leave. Casuals like to feel some kind of progress when they log on for a few. Not get push back further than they started because they can't complete something...

Death Penalties are an outdated feature of MMO's, which is why most modern MMOs are doing away with them. No death penalty I have ever been hit with has made the game feel more realistic. It hasn't ever given me a better sense of danger or immersed me any more than a game without one. I hate dying period, penalty or not.

I don't think the majority of people feel anything more than annoyance at SP/XP loss. Sense and urgency come from Good Storytelling, Challenging Monsters and the proper music.

This game is suppose to be designed to accommodate casual, medium and hardcore game styles. Adding in a death penalty will severely hinder the casual base. Casual Player X logs into game, has 30 minutes to play. Goes out and kills some monsters, has a bit of bad luck and then loses all of the SP he just made and logs, essentially making no progress, possibly losing progress withing 'your' proposed system.

Not to mention the wide range of things that are out of the players control.
    Server Side Lag
    ISP Hiccups
    Random CTDs
    Jerks causing trains
    etc.

Maybe they can add in an optional death penalty so you can feel your sense of urgency. I bet the larger % of people who want a stronger DP would not even toggle the optional penalty on.

lmao so you are telling me people are dying on purpose? They are just running head first into mobs and aren't tying to kill them? What server are you on I would love see these group of tards lmao. If people are dying on purpose its probably because they are bored maybe? Maybe I am a stupid motherfucker myself so let me rethink this. If they added xp loss that will make people try harder than they already are? So soon as that happens they will get the skills not to die at all? I guess im a fucking idiot cause I still don't get how that made XI so challenging....All I seen was a bunch of hardcore scared guys that came up with cheap lowball tactics to win.

i am not talking about carelessly dying due to no penalty. that is a no-brainer. i am talking about that huge monster over there near a camp imbedded with all those squirls you can easily farm. go close to it and it one-shots you. this is an example of why death penalty cannot work in the game's current state of crap.

    now, don't you feel stupid?

Why would you want camps and pulls a la FFXI to mindlessly grind mobs with no point, when you could be running dungeons?

When that's introduced, then things will really get interesting.

lol really? no death penalty has made you quit? go play eve online and tell me if constantly getting killed is something you look forward to and not make any effort to prevent...we'll see how long you last, lol.

outdated feature, eh? lol. i guess the "hip" thing to do in mmo's is to race to end game because for some reason that;s where the game "really" starts, lol!

if i want to run instanced dungeons i would be playing WoW, that game was designed around them. FF mmo is designed around an open world with camp and pull groups and strategic mob engagements....or at least that is what 90% of the lost subscriber base had in mind when they bought this version....we all know what happened from there.

Maybe you haven't been reading, but instanced dungeons are coming.

Plus, it was stated early on that they want to do away with the idea of setting up a static camp and pulling mobs to you. There is absolutely no interest or challenge in playing that way.
