Honestly for me it would be Selbina.. I have so many memories of that area and I loved just taking the boat back and forth. That's one thing I really miss about XI was being able to actually ride on the boat.. even though it took longer

Actually, that third one, I think i will go with the boats. Just being able to ride them and see the scenery as it passed, instead of it just being a simple zone line. Also, pirates and the Sea Horror. Can't forget those.

There are WAY too many good zones from FFXI I'd love to see replicated or at least inspired to be a new zone for FFXIV:ARR, but if I truly had to pick a top three, which are all based on zone, mobs, and definitely DAT MUSIC! It would have to be...

Arrapago Reef - The music is so divine and calming going through this zone. You had to go in the very beginning of this zone to unlock PUP so you got to experience as one of the first when you first got ToAU. Also, as a BLU main, I spent MANY hours there learning blue magic, and it's just a wonderful zone full of interesting mobs, mechanics, twists and turns, getting your staging point, and finding new ways to other zones as well!

Sanctuary of Zi'Tah - THAT MUSIC! The scenery, the hidden paths and it leading to two very interesting zones itself, I loved the huge woods feel, trees taller than all the dragons in the game!! It was such a fantastical and wonderful zone, that music as well, though The Boyhada tree and Ro'Maeve would be suitable and wonderful zones as well, as they were the zones connected to Zi'Tah.

Al'Taieu - Or better known as ()sea() the music, the atmosphere, the mobs!!! Oh, so many hours spent here farming mobs for organs for gorgets and sashes. I loved how the UFO and Sharks worked as well as the angels. So many different looking mobs with vibrant looks and colors. It was a zone I was always wide eyed in!

Honorable mentions go to: Attowha Chasm, Pso'Xja's pass, Xarcabard, Riverne - Site A01/B01, Movalpolos, Altepa Desert, Quicksand Caves, Halvung, Mount Zhayolm, Davoi, Castle Oztroja, Beadeaux, and Uleguerand Range.

The reason I didn't mention two of my favorite zones, sky and Nyzul Isle, is because with the new floating/sky type area and Alexander as the new raid we're getting in Heavensward, I have a feeling my hunger for zones like those two will be satisfied in those!

I'd also love to see a storyline/zones like Abyssea (not the mechanics inside those zones.) to see a post-apocalyptic world, maybe Bahamut was successful in his rage induced ramapge and destroyed the realm, or Zodiark was revived earlier and took over Hydaelyn.

The freakin' dunes!. I know, what a noob sand hill, right? But really, that's when everyone started working together on that game. Fail parties with a clueless tank pulling 4 gobs or a whm that died and accepted their home point back to windy. If you played the old, good FF11, I'm sure there's memories there. I'd love to see something like that place again.

wow, when i think of it

    1) ANY area that requires some puzzle, levers, anything that requires more than 1 person to progress.

    2) Attohwa Chasm: Big area with a big mountain to climb on

    3) hmm... difficult... yea Sky / Ru'Aun Gardens

Please close this thread because of too much nostalgia.
Reminds me of how small and brainless ARR areas are.
beautiful and detail-rich, sure... but small, crude and banal.

Love Soken's boss stuff, and a lot of good zone music but a lot of my favorite FFXI zones are connected to the music directly. Would be nice to get some mysterious and solemnly beautiful areas (like Zi'tah) with music to accompany it. I feel like FFXI's music was a bit slower pace attempting to put you in a trance with a delicate natural simplicity, while songs can sound good like a lot of FFXIV's I don't feel like many of FFXIV put me in a trance (some do) -- and that part of FFXI always vexes me when I hear its music, I want to reactivate every time I hear a song.

Also there were no FATEs and fewer but more drawn out battles so the music was interrupted less. Seriously please let us stop battle like music from every very weak monster that grazes us and FATEs if we are not participating.

Loved Sky, 10/10 would do again lol. Tavnazia, Aydeewa Subterrane, Lufaise Meadows - there are a lot of areas tbh...

    Talking about music bring back Twilight Over Thanalan as zone music, I miss this track a lot ;_;

San D'oria. I had a love affair with it when ffXI came out and I really miss it.
