    I can picture the awfullness of this already.

    And yes Wynn i understand it fits their concept of armoury and changing class on a fly but still, you can change class/job before entering the dungeon depending on what your party need and then once you enter you are locked to it for the instance. It doesn't contradict the armoury spirit and yet it still have you pick your role before entering plus prevent elitist people requiring you to have multiple classes/jobs at max level to be worthy of the run.

    I haven't done any instances yet but will soon... Can someone please explain how class-swapping benefits a party if there are people in the party that fulfill each necessary role? Are there fights that require 2 tanks? 4 healers? Everyone DPS?

    DPS does nothing when running through the trash mobs, so they get on CON or THM for the run.
    When you get to the boss, they switch to their DPS roles and you kill the boss that way.

    A few other examples come to mind, but thats the main idea.

    The idea of swapping jobs in the field was sort of the WHOLE POINT of the armory system. Being allowed to maximize your potential and being rewarded for having more than one job makes a great deal of sense with that under consideration.

    The OP's issue with swapping jobs is 'blinking' because of gear. Frankly I'm not sure why we blink any more. Almost every other MMO has gotten around what ever technology limitation it is that forces the model to be hidden while a piece of gear is swapped.

    SE focused so heavily on graphics and then missed details like that for some reason. And whats more they were in the BEST POSITION TO FIX IT with their own engine this time around.

    No animation required, just swap the "Shirt" model out for a "Plate Mail" model. Every other game that has come out in the past 7 years has managed this.
