New hunt focused items arent fair to PS3 players, specifically carbontwine

Okay, so SE wanted a different method of obtaining the items to upgrade the end game gear you get from Mor Dhona. They apparently didn't like the lockout method from Second Coil or Syrcus Tower. Well they found a new way for players to get Carboncoat and Carbontwine, the new upgrade mats. One of these methods is great, the other just sucks.

The first method is a quest given right after you complete World of Darkness for the first time, The Gift Of the Archmagus. This quest basically makes you run all three parts of the Crystal Tower again, which is great because it makes older players who may not care to do the raids again do them, and that helps out newer players. Once the quest is complete, you get a Carboncoat for your troubles, and the quest is locked until the weekly reset, which is fine. The one problem is we only get Carboncoat.

The other method is by getting unstained hunting logs from A and S ranked hunts, which sounds alright in theory but not in practice. Before the logs were another way of getting upgrade mats, now they seem to be the only method for those of us who haven't made it to the Final Coil of Bahamut. And while doing hunts seems okay, only A and S ranked hunts give out these logs and for those of us who play on PS3 loadtimes and rendering issues can prevent us from doing them, or make us not even want to bother.

These two methods for getting upgrade mats are fine, but, I feel they need some adjustment. While the hunts may not be able to be adjusted, the best way to adjust this issue to make it fair to everyone would be to allow a choice in the archmagus quest, between carnoncoat and carbontwine. This way those of us on a PS3 who haven't reached Final Coil can still get Carbontwine to upgrade our gear.

If you actively hunt, not just wait for a call in your ls, but actually go to a zone and run around looking for a hunt mob in a party, you can get it to load up before 200 people get there.

If you aren't actively hunting in a party, don't complain about early pulls or not getting any credit on a kill.

While I haven't started hunt parties, I have been in them. The issue is with the PS3 load times and rendering. I have had it where the target is visable before other people show up, but it still disappears when other people appear. And then there is the animation lock that prevents me from performing moves or targeting party members. I've not gotten credit a few times even though i should have. I'm not saying hunts for carbontwine and carboncoat is bad it was the same for sands and oil. But we had three methods to grab those upgrade mats, but now we only have two. Also hunts take time and some people don't have it.

Well that is good to know. I'm not saying the method is bad, just i think it could be tweeked. It's similar to how there are other weapons available for those who don't want to go through the lengthy relic weapon proccess.

Ah see i wasn't aware of that I started the game when 2.3 just released, so as far as I new sands was available from the start. But thank you for that info. Did sands and oil release in 2.35 or 2.31? If you know?

Sadly I am as a healer. But what about people who have this same issue but don't have a healer class.
