How about you received over-powered leve rewards (exp and gil) so have several high level classes and massive gil reserves?

It would actually be a ridiculously easy task for them to see who has been active since the start. In FFXI they release a yearly census that shows what job combos are the most popular, and gives each player their individual stats for how many parties they've joined, how many lines of chat they've typed, how many monsters they've defeated, how many times they've been KO'd. There's a ton of info about all of us being stored by them.
the reward is they listen to you the loyal player to make the game better for you
the game state as of now and the improvements in the future are your rewards

or they could give us our free play time (maybe 2 months?) for putting up with this giant mess when they start charging.

They can do something like "accounts created before _____ date will receive a special in game item"
But honestly it's unlikely to happen, and i'm okay with it. They've given free subscription and kept the servers up while they redo the game basically and that's been good enough for me personally.

Sorry, this seems like a bad idea. Particularly adding zones/abilities as rewards.
Our reward will (hopefully) be an awesome game.

Veteran rewards are good for games that don't need more content. Despite being here since September the 21st, I'd say that development resources are better spent on content *everyone* can enjoy, wouldn't you think so?

Beginning - Ranking so freaking easy, easy to make cash from leves, no subscription fee
I think you've been rewarded enough.
Peach Parfait/Khulan Angura on Gilgamesh
Yeah seriously, the reward you/we got is the ability to play for free while they make the game a great game. You got to level up and make insane amount of gils while it was easy to do so. Why do you need a special reward? You did not do SE that much a favor by sticking around, they did a favor to you by letting you play for free for a year. They could have bring the servers down and work on a beta server so the public can test their changes. But instead, they let us play and promised that we would never be penalized with rollbacks of anything we acquired so far... that's your reward.
