Do people not like it when you watch cutscenes?

Thanks all for the responses. I try to tell party members when I start that this is my 'first time' through so they can give me a little extra time. I don't plan on watching the scenes upon replay but also would not mind waiting for a new person to watch them.

Back in November of 2013, when FFXIV was still a bit fresh, I was forced to skip my cutscenes during both CM/Prae and they all nagged and harassed me to just watch it at the inn. Also note that this was my first pay to play MMO and after I was forced to do this, I was heartbroken. My ffxiv 2.0 main story quest experience ruined. There were actions that needed to be done but I didn't know what was going on since the cutscenes explained what the players need to do, e.g. CM has a cutscene that tells you to use the cannons to shoot down the airship. I never felt so useless and defeated and when I went to the inn to watch, it felt so hollow because I was forced to watch the story that way. Also the cutscenes only showed myself, not with the other players with me, so I felt even more alone watching the cutscenes.

Never do this to other people, please. This is Final Fantasy, known for their stories and lush graphics, not Final Dungeon, Final Raid or Final Grind, known for pure dungeon grind. So whenever I run Main Roulette, I always state that I'm totally okay with new people watching the cutscenes and to enjoy to story. But theres always the greedy impatient brat that pulls all the mobs and leaves the newcomers far behind being killed by the previous mobs. I tend to stay behind to help them out, since the actions of other people are out of my control. Some people I tell you.

There's a lot of stupid selfish jerks who don't like others being able to enjoy the game, but please ignore them. Watch the cut-scenes, especially on your first run through, as some of them won't appear again. The rest of the team can wait for you if they're willing to treat this as the multiplayer game that it is.

You could always make a Party Finder group for this. Alternatively, people can also make no-cuts cent groups in PF. With Duty Finder you just have to accept what you get.

As far as people knowing you are watching a CS, I see no reason why they would ask if you are afk.....there's an icon for players who are in a cutscene for that reason.

This game DF is not cross realm right?
If cross realm we can make a appointment at forum and form a team in game, Much better.

yeah watch the cut-scenes, at least your first time thru.
Everyone else is getting a bonus for it being your first time so it's an acceptable trade.

Some people don't like it BUT you're not obliged to skip for them.

My suggestion would be, to make a Party Finder party and pick the "No cutscene skipping" option. That way, you'll be partied up with people whom you know will not bother you about watching cutscenes. I'm sure there would be a lot of people willing to help out, or fellow newbies who'll join up. But yeah, they get bonus things and you get to watch your cutscenes, fair trade.

The Duty Finder is cross-world but within a data center only. For example, my data center is Elemental so I get DF'd with Tonberry and Aegis, but not with servers that are not under Elemental.

I've literally never had anyone complain about cutscenes in 4 man dungeons. Worst ive had is people run in without noticing someone was watching a cutscene or a case like in Tam-tara where the boss aggros from a mile away and it's easy to lock someone out on accident. I can understand about CM/prae but don't care myself. I queue for those expecting to wait a little.

Thankfully the devs are getting better at designing this stuff and keep the long cutscenes for after you exit the dungeon in recent patches.

Watch them if you care for the experience and story and don't let others ruin it for you. The chat box should be hidden when it starts them so don't reactivate it until over that way you get to enjoy them without having someone spam chat and trying to pressure you into skipping.

As for CM and Prae. The CSs in CM don't add up to more than 5 min in total. It won't hurt the party much. Praetoruim though has like an extra half an hour of cutscenes - which I have no problem waiting for people to watch them but not everyone is so understanding. I've had 2 instances of this peer pressure myself. Both times oddly enough I was with my FC at the time.


In one it was in Toto with the preboss CS - one of the players went in ahead(seems to have not noticed me in CS) and I got locked out... the other was in Praetorium - mostly because I felt bad for letting others wait for so long - so I was half skipping/fast reading what I could. But then when I helped others I just decided to turn them on and watch them then - and still tend to when doing a fully premade. I tend to also be that one guy in a DF party that will wait for the new people and guide them through both of those so they don't get lost.

This game is a story based MMOs with rich lore, what's the point if we skip that?
This game is not meant for everyone because of this concept, but for FF fan they will like it for sure.
I believe FF fan will not skip the cutscene unless that player never play any FF franchise before.
If you skip cutscene from other FF games... I'm speechless...
Even WOW have cutscene, lore is the game soul.
