Hello! New to BLM here with some basic questions.

I have been reading around regarding rotations. For the single target one, it's mostly consistent, but for some it includes SC+Flare+Convert , and for some it doesn't.

I think the ones that do include it are for boss rotations, but does it really give a dps increase since the boss is single target anyway? And if boss rotation should include flare, why is it only one flare and not two (by using transpose)?

For burning adds in dungeons, is the rule to use flare as many times as possible? I read that even if I still have a lot of MP left, I should still flare when transpose is up and it will still do more dps than single-target Fires. Can someone share a graceful way to multi-flare + transpose? A few times I ended up with 0mp messing this up lol.

Should I always cast F3 only when MP is full (to go back from UmbralIII), or is it ok to do so while missing some MP? I still don't have the timing quite right and end up either unneedingly casting Bliz I and getting to full MP even before it finishes casting, or not casting it and going into Astral III without full MP @.@ .

Last, is there a minimum spell speed needed to be able to BLM properly? I'm trying it now with mostly ironworks gear and shiva staff and still can't out-dps my SMN on the same ilvl >_< .

Using the below rotation I found on reddit:

The standard single target rotation is: Fire III > Fire x5 > Blizzard III > Thunder II > repeat. With cooldowns: Fire III > Raging Strikes > Fire x5 > Swiftcast > Flare > Convert > Fire > Blizzard III > Thunder II.

for boss:
precast T3 > Fire 3 > raging > quelling > fire 1 spam > swiftcast > Flare > Convert > Fire 1 > Bliz 3 > T2 > Bliz 1 (or scythe)

It does because:

a) Flare is more potency than F1
b) No dps loss from longer cast time (swiftcast)
c) No dps loss from waste of mana (convert)

Only do it on your raging strikes rotation

For trash, I use F3, Spam F2, Flare - then if needed I transpose, f3, f1 flare, transpose, f3, f1, flare etc etc (i need to weave a f1 due to transpose cooldown)

Always cast F3 in your ice rotation when you are full or just about to get a mana tick (so the tick goes through just before the cast hits).

There is no minimum spellspeed, you want to try and get as much of it as you can.

For ice phase use T1 rather than T2; if you get a quick mana tick, go back into fire quicker, if you don't, weave in a blizzard 1 after.

The Shiva staff is horrible, try and get the T9 weapon. Same with pants, the ironwork pants (and gloves) are horrible, try and get the T9 pants/Crafted pants and the crafted gloves.

Ok If anyone can help me out.... Doing T10 and Idk if its because drg got buffed or im doing something wrong but our drg is spanking me on dps, and less gear. I use the rotation on puros spreadsheet of T1 > F3 > F1 till low mp > B3 repeat. using raging strikes and SC Flare Convert combo when its up but yet with a 125 weapon and Ilvl of 120 im only pulling about 380 on average over the course of the whole fight. drg is doing about 450. Im still second highest dps just not sure If Im not squeezing out as much as I used to or if BLM just really is the black sheep of single target dps........

Your dps id perfectly acceptable, though yes you could be doing a fair bit more on adverage.

Knowing the basic rotation is one thing, but putting it into practice, while dodging etc, is another.

Just keep practicing and try to optomize procs/cast clipping while moving and time your CD's to Flare the add's.

T10 is one of the best FCoB fights for BLM ^^

I did this last night mainly because I get a lot of questions on my server and I just feel showing what I do help better. I think we're gonna try to push a speed kill next week so I'll be on LB duty. Questions even reached my reddit account and since I got a new graphic card and I can do videos I might aswell.

380 is low for your gear, and is on the lower end of what you would expect for ilvl 110 clears of t10. its hard to know what you are doing wrong without a video or a parse but make sure you are flaring during adds and that foe is used during adds. t10 is a good fight for blms so you dont have to worry about blms not being good.

I tried this and have to wait a while after transpose to get enough MP to cast F3+F1 . Is this normal? Seems like 1-2 secs when I'm not casting something.

For adds in coil, is it the same rotation? e.g. T10 ?
