I'd leave the dungeon instantly. I'd wait the 30 minutes. I do it all the time. Ethical? No, not really, but unless I'm with friends, my dungeon runs are for selfish purposes. (to be honest, most dungeon runs everybody does is for selfish purposes(not exactly selfish, but I cannot think of the word))

Had it once with a mrd after 2 deaths at first boss I explained the gear and job stuff we took another 3 wipes on first boss then he asked for a disband/votekick (cant actually remember if votekick existed by then) and said thanks for the info. I think was a good experience to meet someone that doesnt take it as offence.
Same for an archer we met in stone vigil 3 man premade, we took im thru but he died easily. Some people just dont read helptexts and skip 80% of all sidequests so it often helps to explain (cant understand though ppl qing 8 man stuff as mrd saying "there will be another tank anyways and this way there is more dps" - I just wait for the situation that BOTH tanks show up in class n get it in their face)

I toughed it out once... never again. Honestly, I don't see the point in sticking around once it becomes very clear that a party is not going to be able to clear a dungeon or trial. It's a waste of everyone's time. I have a limited amount of time in which to play; I'd rather spend it doing something productive instead of beating my head against a wall.

White knight healer who was pretty much acting like he was hoping that the tank was a very hot woman in real life that would date him if he was nice to her, complimenting the tank on ANYTHING, "You used a cooldown, GREAT JOB! I've never seen a tank use a coolodown like you just did!" and more crap like that.

I had worse once, and the tank was a japanese warrior which only hold aggro to the mobs he attacked.. BLM casted sleep on the other mobs but suddenly he uses overpower.. Always like that.. And he uses all caster gears lv 25-30 or something.. And i was the healer.. It was really epic (i'm weird am i not?) until i initated vote abandon after first wipe on aiatar which was rejected, we made it to aiatar.. Believe it or not.. Then we got more wipes.. Until the best we could do was to down aiatar's hp to 34% then people voted abandon.. Hahahahaha.. After it ended, i took my time to translate the convo the party had.. I just think the tank is a troll..

i am hopelessly optimistic about these kinda situations like, "if we try hard and believe we can do it!" kinda optimistic
usually it actually works out through some ungodly miracle (i swear half of you sold your souls) but when it does not work out in my expierence either the problem player or a very frustrated teamy will drop out.
at which point i'll try a vote abandon depending on where we are in the instance and what the reason was for failure.
but nonetheless i do agree you should make sure you are properly geared for the dungeon you are about to take on, hell im still fairly new to level 50 and when i reach a required item level for a new dungeon i still get really nervous about whether im prepared enough. usually i'll try it first with friends because of some fear or other of inconveniencing others

That when you pull the ole, " getting a lot of lag here on my end" then just leave, though it's a toss up, either eat the 30 minute, or spend the 30 or so playing the dungeon, of course if the dungeon is going to be more than 30 May as well just eat the 30. Though who's to say the next group you get will be any better.

On the other hand someone could tell to the person and offer up some education, maybe they just don't what they are doing. I made it all the way to halitali before I knew what a tank even was.

I never do either.

If we lose just keep at it till you win practice makes you perfect at the run, if you lose someone you'll never get the hang of it.

I haven't done dungeons or new content in a while, I am burned out because the way they have it setup, you burn for gear then patch comes with new gear and you have to get that gear in order to be relevant.

I was running bray normal with a tank that had just over 1k hp. Its a lvl 34 dungeon and he was wearing a lvl 15 body piece. Rest of hes stuff was lvl 20-28. He didn't have pld unlocked either.

Early on I noticed hes hp drop extremely fast, which caused me to check him. Well the rest of the dungeon was a nightmare.

I play a healer and our dps's had 1300hp and were holding up better then the tank.

We ended up using the whole time and somehow managed to get to final boss though, but sometimes I wonder if I should just give in and leave in that situation. We wernt able to finish it.

Anyone else ever wonder what to do and end up just toughing it out like I do?

Staying and not kicking is condoning the situation and hence, encouraging it to continue. Either kick the person that clearly doesn't care about contributing, or get out yourself.
