I enjoy playing WAR a lot, and always have, and I find PLD to be very boring to play as. Sure, they're tough, but 1-2-3'ing all night kinda kinda "yawn". :P

Anyways, I spec VIT during prog, and then STR for Farm shit.
I don't stack SS. If I got it, I got it, if I don't, I don't care. Get that ACC, get that VIT, fuck the rest!
And as others mentioned, T13 ACC cap is 558.

For doing larger pulls, I only use Flash if you're low on TP for some reason. I often prefer to open up with Unchained or Berserk + OP, and then either a few more OPs, or weave in a Steel Cyclone, use Infuriate if you need to. Don't go overboard on OP spam though, 4, 5 or 6 should be enough to get far enough on enmity, you can switch to single rotation, to conserve a bit more TP. Doing big pulls is EASY.... doing a lot of Big pulls you need to be SMART.

    1) For stats, go with STR not VIT.
Not true. At least not initially. You will want to go full VIT until your HP hits a certain value that you and your healers are comfortable with. For turn 13, 10k HP with full food buffs and defiance is the bare minimum people will recommend. Once you've gotten enough HP, you can slowly shave off VIT accessories and eventually respec your points into STR. Keep a separate gear set for full STR and one for high end tanking.

    2) Current ACC cap is 568.
558 I believe actually if this site is correct. http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen...ything_coil_19

    3) Parry is not very useful.
Correct. Though some people will argue this, you just don't get enough return for the investment required to be noticeable. It'd be better off spent in determination or crit rate for the dps checks in some fights.

    4) I want to get around 420 SSpd for 9-hit berserks.
You don't actually need that much if you hit Unchained on Maim. I'm sitting at 405 SS, and get 9 hits(if you don't count our stun). With 5 stacks, this is the rotation I usually use: Maim(grants the 5th stack), Unchained, Berserk, Storm's Eye, Internal Release, Heavy Swing, Vengeance, Skull Sunder, Butcher's Block, Inner Beast, Infuriate, Inner Beast, Fracture, Heavy Swing, Maim, pacified. I find I can't hit 9 hits if I unchain on Skull Sunder though, since Maim's animation is a little faster. However, if you do throw out the stun in the middle of Skull Sunder's cast, you can hit the magic 9 hit since it cancels Skull Sunder's animation early.

How I feel about PLD vs WAR: I feel the balance is pretty good right now. Warrior is the more dangerous and skill intensive tank, as their defensive options are considerably smaller than Paladin's. However, you get some awesome interesting little perks that Paladin does not have. For example, the huge amount of burst that you can get when you know your rotations correctly, defense through offense, reflecting damage, etc. Overall, I feel the two classes compliment each other very well, and the Warrior can oftentimes make up for the Paladin's short comings if he is having trouble holding aggro. For example: If the Paladin is only running a 90 weapon, but is better suited for MT than OT, then the Warrior can start the fight due to his higher offense, and build some big aggro. Paladin rips it from the Warrior with provoke, and now the Paladin is riding the Warrior's aggro meter. This is pretty helpful for newer tanks whose gear may be lacking when compared to the dps.

Paladin is far safer and defensive. There's no debating that whatsoever. The Warrior is riskier and more offensive. The two compliment each other very well and bring things to the table that the other does not.

That actually works? Here I was convinced it worked on just about no bosses. I hadn't even thought to try. Thank you

I agree with some parts and disagree with some. PLD is more of a safer tank yes. But Warrior is by no way a more dangerous as a tank it just leaves lesser room for error than a PLD, therefore skill intensive. But if a War is good he can be as defensive as a PLD with proper usage of Cooldowns like IB.

The main reason why PLD are preferred MT to me is because they have lesser things to look out for (1,2,3 combo instead of Miam,Storm Path/Eye,Infu), their Ultimate CD as a tank compared to WAR is wayyyyyyyyyy better, War needs to keep Path and eye up almost 100% of the time therefore only able to use enmity combo once every 3 combo and lastly WAR can pick up adds and burst them down faster while in tank stance therefore passing dps check faster.

Storms Path is SUUUUPEEEEER important! Thats 10% less dmg from EVERYTHING the boss does yo. >_> Don't ever say we WAR don't help team mates! My Raid Leader yells (not really..) at me if I don't have SP up 100% of the time in T13. :P

Overall, I don't think WAR need much else to support their team. I would like to see a Charge ability or "Intervein" from WoW. But yeah, WAR are good fun, skill challenging, and do good DPS for a tank.

SP is pretty important, and worth your GCDs to maintain 100% of the time. Especially in harder content like FCoB.
