Hildibrand Season 1 Finale Opinions SPOILERS!

I will honestly admit, 8-Arm Gilgamesh was way tougher than I thought he'd wind up being. You really can't ignore his mechanics, and he hits hard even when he isn't busy spamming AoEs. I just hope that, in a future battle with him, we finally get a reward other than a minion. For example, perhaps the Genji gear, or maybe joke weapons? Y'know, nice stuff for glamours.

They're most likely saving that for a future Gilgamesh Battle since the did reveal at the end of this Season FInale that Gilgamesh involvment in FF14 is not over and this will not be the last time we fight him since now he has declared us as his Rival.

Though it also provides a good oportunity for them to explain how Gilgamesh becomes Post-Excalibur Gilgamesh since at some point in his timeframe he lost three of his right arms and had them replaced with cardboard arms which sounds like something Hildy and Nashu would give him if Greg suffered from such a injury in a future Hildibrand storyline.

I have to admit that i got really sad when it turned out Ellie was evil.

I liked her but now she might not appear anymore if shes rotting away in a prison cell :C

Perhaps she'll get some kind of work release program. After all, locking away the star reporter of the Mythril Eye wouldn't look good to people...

I'm more amazed at the Beladia/ Ul'Dah and Sil'ih revelations. as a lore buff i wasnt disappointed

I've been a Hildibrand fan since the beginning, but this was by far the best installment. Loved the Ellie twist, loved Godbert in all his glory, loved that we got to meet Hildy's mom. The Greg fight was excellent, too. And the rewards for the quest? Fantastic! I have a new glamour now!

The Greg fight was epic, I was also pretty curious who the real Enkidu is, because I am not FF fan for long. I really liked many ideas in this installment, mostly the idea of summoning Enkidu as primal by mistake and Hildy building immunity to zombification.

Well this Enkidu is not the Real Enkidu but a Void creature Gilgamesh named after him and since their meeting this Enkidu has been his companion. The story behind Gilgamesh origin is a sad one.

Gilgamesh origin is in FF Type-0 where he was once King of Genbu and the Lorian Alliance. During FF Type-0 a coup d'etat happened and Enkidu died protecting Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh survived but he obtained amnesia resulting in him forgetting everything about his past except for his name and a constant loneliness which he does not know why he felt. This loneliness was the result of the original Enkidu's death but Gilgamesh could not remember this event nor who Enkidu was.

Eventually Gilgamesh was banished into the Void in Type-0 where he would wander aimlessly. Being alone for a long time in the Void he yearned for a companion due to the constant loneliness he felt that was the result of Enkidu's death in Type-0 and eventually he met a Void being. This Void being had no name but Gilgamesh befriended this being and gave him the name Enkidu which is the current Enkidu.

Gilgamesh does not know why he valued the name Enkidu but it was the only name he could think up when he gave the current Enkidu his name.

Eventually Gilgamesh and Enkidu would be summoned by Exdeath from the Void which leads to his role in FF5 which is the first Final Fantasy game he appeared in.

I dont know how much Gilgamesh factors into Type 0s story but way to put in a bunch of spoilers for a game releasing later this year that most outside japan havent played yet.

I love that my character finally met someone that truly terrified her. Whether it is ascians or primals the warrior of light looks mostly annoyed at these obstacles but when Hildy's mom showed up for the first time and started issuing orders my character looked truly frightened.

Considering what we've seen Godbert do to lesser beings like Chimeras, and what we saw her do in her first recognized appearance, I think there's only one conclusion to be reached -

This is a woman who could temper primals if she wanted. It certainly explains Hildy's toughness, if nothing else.
