I bolded the part where you are utterly wrong. By having 40 accuracy instead of 40 say determination will boost your heals from maybe 1300 to 1330. That's far from relevant. Healing is about knowing when the big hits and the AOE come and offhealing all that, you will do the same amount of casts with 40 determination and with 0. You are not gimping your heals in the slightest, this is more of a neurotic perception from elitists who think are good (but are not in reality). A good boost of accuracy on the other hand, will put you from doing 10 DPS to 100-150 if you play properly (consider not doing that as gimping yourself and being a subpar healer). As a SCH, accuracy acts in fact, the similar way piety does, energy drains never miss, so if you have spare stacks of aetherflow, you can exchange them for very good chunks of mana.

In other words, when you heal you always overheal, which means healing 30 more per cast doesn't mean jack.

Doing more damage on the other hand will not fall into "overdamage". Extra healing is wasted. Extra damage is never wasted.

You're given all the tools you need, and scholars are so not mana dependent there's really never a reason for you to be just standing there doing nothing.

You'd think it to be a no-brainer, yet there is a huge amount of resistance from players who want to do the absolute minimum in their role.

Saying "But I'm a healer, I shouldn't have to DPS" is a lot like trying to tell your coworkers that you shouldn't have to help take out the office trash because "janitor" is not in your job title, regardless of the fact that you are otherwise standing around watching them do their jobs.
