I'm not quite to the point of unsubbing over Hunts, but the fact that SE keeps pushing them as the Be-All, End-All method of gearing up is definitely making me hate Hunts more and more.

It's actually kinda funny, when I first heard about them being introduced I was super-excited. I figured they'd play out kinda like in FFXII, where you picked up the mark, talked to the client (who, by the way, would be people other than the Grand Company leaders), fulfilled the spawn conditions, and then fought the mark with a small group of friends (or perhaps strangers you recruited via PF). You would then go and talk to the client again, get your reward, and perhaps you'd even get some points towards a ranking system used to determine if you could accept tougher Hunts.

Nothing about that system would prevent it from being Open World. Sure, only the people in your party get the reward, but then again, how's that any different from how Hunts are currently being handled? If you aren't in a party, you get absolutely nothing, because there's no way you'll be able to amass enough credit in the 10 seconds the mark is alive when on your own. Heck, even when you AREN'T on your own, you still might not get credit! By following the FFXII example more closely, not only is that issue solved, but it also would allow for more interesting battles! Think about what it's like fighting the Alpha Chimera or Alpha Morbol from the Peisteskin maps; Fights of a similar difficulty, but scaled up for more than just 3 i90-geared players, or perhaps scaled down for only 1 if it's just a B-Rank. Heck, the B-Ranks could have more going for them than just having humongous gobs of HP and hitting a little harder than basic monsters!

Anyway, tl;dr, SE should've made Hunts more like how they were done in FFXII, and less like the zerg rush lagfests they are now.
