This isn't the mystery trial.
Shall I tell you what it is?
It's Lahabrea. I would bet its a fight against him.

Lahabrea Extreme - which is an empty coffee mug that says "World's Best Ascian" on it.
Upon entry, you win the trial.
We have the means to kill Ascians based on the trailer, so any Ascian we go up against likely isn't going to survive. Doubt it is Lahabrea based on the fact that he shows up in the trailer for part 2 as well. Likewise all the suspense of Minfilia being in danger in part 1 is lost when I see her in part 2...
Someone already pointed out that the JP Achievement could indicate that it is a fight with Nabriales, I'd hope it's a fight with Nabriales plus Cúchulainn. Was the Primal that awoke at the end of 2.0 ever actually confirmed to be Bahamut? The guard called it an abomination which a, indicates he saw it (how'd he see Bahamut when Bahamut is in Coil?) and b, abomination? Sure sounds like Cúchulainn. I recall the Ascians saying that since Bahamut is waking, the others would soon too. Other Elder Primals? Based on the Summoner questline Cúchulainn should be one and FFXII lore puts Cúchulainn and Nabriales together (though in opposition).
I'm seriously going to be disappointed if the trial is just an Ascian... That seems so dull... Throw Zodiark-Egi in at the very least... Just a generic villain who sits there going "Hahahaha! Begone!" isn't exciting...

So great how people come in this thread and don't read anything but the title. Try reading the OP, or at the very least the first sentence in the OP.
As a side note, I figured out how to change the title, so hopefully nobody else will post what we already resolved in the first freaking page of the thread.
Err.. nope, nevermind. Looks like the thread title didn't actually change. Well.. here comes more people thinking they are special snow flakes to tell me that Greg isn't the mystery trial, again.. and again, because they don't read.

Sorry, your edit was about 50mins after my post.
And yeah, telling people they can't read, when you clearly didnt read the patch notes.. welp.
ggwp.

He edited his first post a few hours after making this thread, because people mentioned that he was wrong. You should always read the entire thread before posting to avoid repeating something that has been said before.
Also: This thread was made before the patchnotes were revealed.
Well I still wonder how Nabriales is connected to Cuchulainn, maybe he'll summon him during the fight or maybe once we defeated him we can get a way to summon Cuchulainn later with the summoning system they wanted to make in the game, a crystal like the one in FFXII that appear when you defeat an esper, well it's only speculations, it's possible that the espers and the ascians aren't really related in FFXIV, we only know that Belias and Zodiark exist in this world.
