You will not get colour change unless there is a "new feathers" message, plumage message means only that timer started.

From what you describe it still seems that you are feeding random fruit. What colour do you have now and what are you trying to get?

Also, remember, that quite often fruit number to get "new feather message" would differ, so what worked for someone else might not work for you.

Yes, I know about the color message being "growing new feathers." I'm trying to get Regal Purple and now I have Coral Pink. My issue is I don't get any message except "<chocobo> devours the <fruit>" I'm not feeding him random fruit, just the xelphatol apples, O'ghomoro berries. I tried the valfruit to see if it would cause either plumage or feathers message but it didn't cause either. I'm now guessing it's bugged.
