The few responses here are honestly the first time I have ever seen anyone in favor of gear damage in an MMO or RPG in my life.

saying you dont like gear damage is like saying you dont like having to spend gil to get your gear, or you dont like to kill stuff to get the drops
its like saying you dont like anything that can be considered a time sinc or take extra time or put any sort of small inconvenience on you
no ones truely in favor of it, but its a nesisary evil that we NEED to balance out the uber zergs that people do when they just dont have a reason to care about dying

Isn't repairs kind of like part of our economy?
Hey OP, the death penalty is fine, i felt that they ninja fix the death penalty during those maintenance, because the first time i've tasted dead and my equipment drop tremendously but last sunday i had a blast and my equipment drop fairly low than it used to during the first two day.

You do realize the current system only hurts people who like to solo hard mobs or hard leves or groups that crash and burn learning a strategy, right? You can die and raise all day long and experience no death penalty effects whatsoever. The way they changed weakness if anything assists in "uber zergs" because the tier I weakness does nothing to DD potential, it only lowers HP and MP a little.
If you want to be hardcore include the DP on every death. This one only hurts solo players or groups learning a new strategy to get it down.

people bitched up a storm about there being no penalty, and of course, if they add one, people will bitch up a storm that there is one
you cant win, but the complaining now is so much less then when it was a 1% penalty, so that says it must be working

Aion Zwei - Masamune
I'd rather have a SP penalty and get back to playing the game after dying. Having game to tell me go "f" myself for 10 minutes before I get to play again is/was not that entertaining.
