You may be right that that's the issue. I'm on the same page as you (not offended and not taking it as homoerotic). I'm not overly familiar with eastern culture and I took it as just absurdist humor. He's nearly naked and suplexing giant monsters and offing Chimera, a beast that is a pain in the rear for us to fight, with an artisan tool. He runs fast enough to destroy the landscape so he can smash his errant son into the dirt head first. It just seemed like they were going for absurdly funny to me.

Savage Second Coil failed. It had no real reward, so no one ran it. Sure, some really hardcore (and very bored) statics ran it...but once cleared, that was it. And it was only the top percent (or less) that ever cared about Savage (before we found out there were no rewards). If it had rewards...yeah, no one would have ran it still, it required the best gear to attempt and a lot of groups threw a ton of gil at it in the form of penta-melded i90 accessories...and that's saying nothing about the skill and coordination also required from the players.

Apparently all the best players only play for meaningless digital shinies instead of for fun and challenge. You'd think something like savage coil is the reason WHY you collect BiS gear other than just to prance around in it.

that's so sad.

Hildibrand makes people laugh; its great, well-written content that I would love to replay again if I could (and do watch the cutscenes occasionally). Everyone can enjoy it, and there is a reason to run them (Trial Roulette and mini-games) even if you don't.

Hildibrand is a nice diversion and it has some of the best quests and cutscenes in the game. What I'd like is that they'd make its Trial battles actually worth running more than once and not have them become outdated pretty quickly, but that's really a flaw with the whole game itself. Outside of the one time you have to do Gilgamesh for the story and maybe sometimes for farming light, and once you do Ultros for the story and then get your minion there's no real reason or motivation to do them ever again, which is a shame because they're fun. We'll see what happens with Greg EX.

If anything, this just proves how simple-minded some people are. They rush to interpret things anyway that benefits their own case and then make up asinine arguments against it. People tend to forget that "being offended" is actually a choice. It's a state that has no physical bearing and is created 100% by the mind. People can choose not to be offended, but they would rather not because A) that takes work, and B) how else will they find reasons to complain about things.

If someone walked up to you and told you that he/she is offended by computers, should the entire world stop making them? Absolutely not. The same applies to this game. Society can't bend over backwards to cater to these types of people because it hinders development.

I just do not like that the hildi quests lock trial roulette. If they were truely optional that would be ok but I do not like them personally so just speed through them to unlock the trial roulette

They follow a trope
They have the whole gentle giant thing going on. Big dudes with good intentions, slightly slower in the head, but so damn manly clothing can not contain them. They are proud of there bodies!
When push comes to shove though that gentle side vanishes and out comes the beast.

Usually the sexuality is intentionally left ambiguous but Godbert is a little less questionable because he has a son and a wife.
