the black mage set.. looks really meh, it just looks like the AF gear with a fuzzier hat, hopefully when we see it in game it has a few more things to it

Sometimes you just got to have Some fun
I doubt that the Mystery Trial will be Gilgamesh EX since it was known for quite a bit, same if somebody sais Odin because that's Urth's Fountain. Mystery Trial might be a first attempt to attack Nidhogg or Omega Weapon.
Yeah, I rewatched the scene and edited my post, but it came out late for you when I saved the edited xD
Honestly it sounds like it hamstrings the fight too much movement wise and would be pretty damn boring. I don't want to fight a million dragons. I want to fight him. The fight they actually gave us is quite adequate in both regards.
And you are surprised why? All the main scenario quests aren't supposed to be difficult as the coil or you'd turn away anyone who would get stuck and can't progress in the story.
But it would have still been a dwarfed bahamut. If his hand with about 2x the size of the platform we fought Twin on (meaning, including the fingers and the space we didn't get to go on), that would mean his head is roughly 4-5x that size. So if his head was looming the battle field we could maybe target one scale at a time.
The way they did it was the only way they could have and still let us fight him.
A dungeon with the name "the Keeper of the Lake" and you didn't expect the dead looking Midgardsormr as the boss? Not even after the Ishgard Astrologians said that the Keeper will awake?
