Um, that's not really lore, how did two people from a completely different world/dimension with no form of intergalactic/dimensional/time travel get to Eorzea and why did Sephiroth (main protagonist after he found out how he was created went buttshit crazy and wanted to destroy the world with the help of his beloved mother) suddenly have this moral epiphany where he realized stealing is wrong and therefore he would help Cloud finding what was stolen. Finally why would a former SOLDIER 1st class (kind of) require any kind of help to get some materia back off Hildibrand?

You are trying to place Cloud and Sephiroth in Eorzea with no valid way of them getting there, the Lightning event had lore to place her there. Look at Dissidia Chaos and Cosmos took the characters from their world and placed them into Dissidia. There was no indication of this ever happening in the world of FFVII, and there is no indication this would be within the power of the twelve either.

On a purely lore-related level... The plausability of this is borderline farce.

Apart from 3-4 minutes of flashbacks in VII, they barely knew each other, after which they became mortal enemies.

Why then would they suddenly want to work together, against you, no less.

It just doesn't make sense, and is a huge violation to canon.
