FF11 mostly everyone was broke and most got money from HNMS not crafting
your statement contains false information as you don't know exactly what "most" people did. I was moderately broke because I would spend all of my money on random crap that I didn't need. I didn't make money from HNMs. I made my gil from fishing and crafting and I never once lost gil from doing either one. It was all profit. The "big" money was in HQ crafting, yes, at times, but you still didn't have to be level 100 in a craft to make comparable gil. For instance, back when I played, a Jupiter staff was 200k and the mats for it were around 100k to buy them all. If he didn't HQ any of them, he would be out around 50k a synth (Thunder staff was around 50k at this time). Now if he crafted 3, only 1 was HQ, that means he broke even. This isn't good money at all. Fishing? Pure profit. I spend 5k for a lure, walk home with 117k worth of fish...at level 18. At level 90, I use that same lure that I had been using for months and walk home with 217k worth of fish. For cooking, insect paste cost me..what...100gil to make? 1-2k a stack? Pure profit. Shihei? Farmed most of my materials so they only cost me around 500gil to make...and what..6k a stack? Profit. IMO, it was the high level crafters that were the dumb ones. They pumped out gear after gear and sure, you would occasionally pull in a HQ that would net you 6mil, but you also have to account for the gil that you lost while making nothing but NQs...and really, there isn't much profit there.
