If DF people are your definition of the worst people imaginable, go play WoW. LFR in WoW is an absolute atrocity. It never requires much beyond basic awareness of who's tanking or not. The players have been conditioned to be abrasive and competitive. Abusive chat is accepted as normal. The worst slurs are accompanied with the wretched "grow a thicker skin" admonishment.

In FFXIV, if I say "hello" on entering a dungeon, people typically say "hello" back, and usually say some form of thanks to everyone at the end of the run. This is the only MMO I've played where this consistently happens. Better, sometimes people will even listen to advice or wait on request before starting an encounter. Not always, but sometimes, and that's something.

Bad runs here happen. Had a rather rotten CT1 DF raid the other day, where no one really listened, tried to just faceroll through, and the duty was abandoned at Bone Dragon. They weren't all bad -- at least no one was throwing slurs and abuse around. Queue'd again, next group was amazing. Not super pro, but as a whole the group was polite and cooperative, even waited for people who'd DC'd in one case before starting a boss fight. It made up for everything. The same good stuff has happened in Syrcus Tower as well. You'd think the endgame raids would be prone to the worst. Sometimes they are, but most of the time they're not. It's encouraging.

This is extremely true. Remember this.
