what do they mean by "mastering" anyway? i figured mastering is equivalent to being level cap.

15 abilities each? what is this... Kindergarten?A jack of all trades WHM... what is this 1989?
There is no mastery in the game yet. Mastery would mean that although you can only fully rank up one or two crafting classes, you reap special benefits. You make better items, or more items, or specialty type things. The benefits have not been decided, but that is generally what it means.
ditto but people are saying if u master it you can do things other people can not. So say u rank up GLA and want PLD then your stuck with PLD only. all of the other master/jobs are locked out.
SO if u rank up BSM and any other craft u can only master BSM.
Im saying right now u can master all jobs and i want it to stay that way.
so even though there is no japanese word that they used to differentiate between "mastering" as in having benefits over someone else at level cap and "mastering" as in just plain reaching max level and since "mastering" doesnt exist in game other than just being max level.... what makes everyone think you can still level all crafts and only master one?ditto but people are saying if u master it you can do things other people can not. it seems to me a specific word was used in japanese which was translated as best as possible at the time which really only meant "to limit each player to one maxed out craft"
wouldnt they have mentioned a bit more about "mastery" if it was literally anything more than just being level cap? like, wouldnt they have at least mentioned something like "which players can reach by completing a quest" or something like that? idk, if there is going to be an actual mastery system in this game i think there would have been a slight bit more mentioned other than just the word "master".
Yoshi even went "oh i bet this is the first ive mentioned about the new job system" in one of his letters where he just so happen to mention it in a short list of things.

@Wynn idc they could round everyone's gil to 1 mil i would not care as long as the game gets better that's all i want for this game.
@ physic i have no idea what you are talking about but ill say it again it's impossible for DOW/M to manipulate the market solo but it is possible for for DoL/H.
@ Zkieve: I understand what you are saying, and i agree that they should let you change your master class on a weekly timer or something. Trust me I'm not telling anyone to go back to WoW, I am just tired of seeing people saying if you change this I'm gonna quit, when you, me, SE (probably) does not care. If this change made 10 leave but made 100 people return/buy the game i am all for it.
Every time i post this in forums no one ever quotes the most important part of the post to me, which is:
Most people know changes are coming and they just seem to ignore it all together, people need to understand that this not going to be the same game tanaka Sold you which was Shit.11. Would you welcome changes to FINAL FANTASY XIV that would drastically alter the rules already set in Eorzea?
So because we said we're okay with drastic changes they should just change every last thing in the game? Hell just scrap this one and make a new one, we said we wanted drastic changes didn't we? What's more drastic than just shutting the game down and making a new one?
People are okay with changes as long as they think they are for the good of the game. Personally I don't think mastery adds anything to the game, it doesn't make anything better in my opinion. It just puts more needless restrictions that people who want to will find ways around.
