    Please Clarify this DEVS ??

How does mid-level battle content = crafting??

Q: Currently in FFXIV there is a lot of content for the hardcore and casual players, but not much in terms of something in-between. Do you have any plans on adding to the amount of middle-level content for players that can do Crystal Tower but are unable to do the Coil of Bahamut?
A: While it won’t be implemented right away, we are planning to add Free Company crafting in the expansion.

Sounds like some kind of FC-based crafting to make intermediate equipment, maybe at -5 levels from raid stuff or something.

The summary summarized away the clarifications. Here's the gist:

While it won't be implemented right away, we're working on the FC crafting for the expansion at the moment, and within that, we are developing things for the mid-level players. And then in addition, in the next raid content (the one after the Final Coils), we're planning to have two difficulties "Hard" and "Normal" go online at the same time. If we look at the currently available content, it would be like taking the current Coils raid, make it easier, and call it the Normal mode. It will be something easier than the Final Coils people are doing right now. But Hard mode would also be harder than the current Final Coils as well. So start from the current difficulty, then replace it with one that is slightly easier, and another one that is slightly harder. So by providing contents of differing difficulty at the same time, players can find the content that matches their play skill.

That's roughly what I get from the actual video.

the question was asking about raiding though not gear . again later in the letter when being asked about fc alliances which to me refers to battle they again mention FC crafting... maybe they meant something else. around the 53 / 54 minute mark

Thank you... so basically it has nothing to do with crafting just lowering the levels of current dungeons as it will be old and lower level content, if i understand you right.

No. They're basically talking about a new structure of end-game content.

In other words, to provide a solid example. When 3.0 goes live, right on that day, the top-tier newest raid content will already have a Normal mode and a Hard mode. That's what they mean.
