Because some people just enjoy making such videos.
You should see the number of trailer-type AMVs out there.
If its any consolation, I would recommend you to be hired in their advertising department.

I think this is just awesome and it should be used like final trailer for the ps3 launch.Excellent job so far in every departement.
What is the name of the song anyway?
I dunno, it kinda feels like you are violating something making a trailer for them. The current trailer footage are just cutscenes already in the game with a different song.
Should just make movies like these: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...14-s-fun-video

As long as she makes no profit from this activity, causes financial loss to SE or engages in copyright violations causing this (unlikely, since 99% of the footage is already on youtube including at the official FFXIV page) she is within her rights to engage in a creative activity.
Expecting SE to USE it would be going a bit far. After all, to make financial gain from this would mean violating the .hack copyright too.

I dont really like it, it feels too typical of the average movie.
Theres no effects, its just a bunch of cut-scenes and some gameplay wounded together, there was nothing special, i did not like the cliche finale, I did not like the "darkness" tint to empathise distress, it was un-tasteful. The music does not fit in at all, i dislike there are no sound effects and the scenes were sometimes choppy.
Sorry not pleasent, but I dont feel this video does anything for me, its just a bunch of clips with music slapped on top that does not fit.

I liked itVery nice! I hope to see more!
"I know not what brings men joy. Of what drives them to great deeds, of what legacies they hope to leave, I know less yet. But I do know this: The true hero of this tale was the man forgotten."
Eightfold Illusion, from the .hack//G.U. Volume 3: Redemption PS2 game.
The effects are being worked on. Remember, this is a work in progress. Also, some of the footage was captured when the client was on a much older computer with a lousier video card (Radeon HD4870), so some of the footage early on WOULD be choppy. I'm trying to find a way to replay the cutscenes in-game so I can recapture them smoothly on my Radeon HD 5870.I dont really like it, it feels too typical of the average movie.

I also can turn on the sound tracks for the in-game clips, but I feel they would detract from the overall trailer. I have to be careful with this.
I will be taking your feedback seriously and making adjustments where necessary.
Absolutely correct. If Square Enix ever wants to use the trailer I'm making, they would need to tap one of their own composers to produce an original track for it. If I get an official request for the trailer, I'll be able to provide them with a 720p high resolution version when it's finished. As long as she makes no profit from this activity, causes financial loss to SE or engages in copyright violations causing this (unlikely, since 99% of the footage is already on youtube including at the official FFXIV page) she is within her rights to engage in a creative activity.

Other than that, the odds of it being used in an official capacity are next to nil.

I should add that I'm from Besaid, a server that's full of drama. .hack//G.U. is full of drama, too. So I thought the music would be a good fit for what my FFXIV experience was like so far.

I understand that, it would be nice if SE provided us a way to view completed cut-scenes again. I noticed in some you where highlander, did you reroll to get cutscenes or other reason? The effects are being worked on. Remember, this is a work in progress. I will be looking forward to seeing much more development with the effects and such. While sounds can be annoying they can add some thrill, take a look at a lot of cinema trailers, more often than not they keep sound effects and on top of that they allow the sound effect to time in as part of the music. You can see a big explotion but if you dont hear it, it doesnt sink into you. Ofc mute the in-game music, but keep sounds.
