male Au Ra: necks are too long..?

this is a really minor point, but its one that now noticed, I cannot unnotice it. Before I go into it, i just want to say that I really, really like the design of the male Au Ra, the horns, the running/walking animations, the badassery and machismo they ooze, the fact that they don't have pencils for arms, etc.etc, and will in all probability become one ingame when i am able to do so.

If you look at the artwork for the Au Ra, the length of their necks are proportionate to the rest of their body; they are thick and powerful, and you can see traps, yet when you look at the in game models, the necks are really stretched out and really, really thin; they are easily the length of their heads, if not longer. It kind of resembles the neck length of the elezens, and makes them look like humanoid giraffes. Which is not, imo, in keeping with the badass image that i think they are meant to project; it makes them look kind of gawky and awkward.

    as an example: the artwork:

and the ingame models. In particular, the blue male Au Ra in the left:

As I said, this is a minor point, and since we still have half a year before we get to use them, maybe it'll be noticed and fixed; or maybe i'm just seeing something that isn't there. Does anyone else see it?

I see it mostly on the male Au Ra on the right side - but it also seems that he's missing a lot of muscle in the shoulder line that connects the neck to the shoulder... taking his muscle mass into consideration, that is. It just seems like there should be more of a muscle slope between the neck and where the arm meets the body - and there just isn't any, so it elongates the neck in a sense.

    But that's just a theory o_o

It could also just be a race thing, and intentional (to add height, since they're supposed to be tall and intimidating)

IT's intentional. If you read the 2.4 storyline you'd completely understand where the Au'Ra came from.

Yeah, it's not that their necks are long, it's that they're lacking muscular definition, which IS noticable. I actually do agree, they should probably change that, although im almost 99% it's done that way because of compatibility with previous content.

The artwork may just be spoiling us, they have super broad shoulders and look very powerful, but the in-game models are more or less Highlander with a bit more height and definition.

You mean Saint Shiva? I thought the Au Ra were from the East, and judging from the blurb on the Odin minion, that they predate Ishgard.

There is no lore yet for Au Ra, in the Wind-Up Odin minion info. it states: "A popular theory is that Odin acquired the blade upon slaying an Auri warrior..." that doesn't look like Au Ra to me.

Also, have you seen Elezen necks? They have nothing on the Au Ra necks lol, and that is with both male and female Elezens. Not that I dislike long necks, Elezen being my 2nd favorite race to play after Midlanders.

Actually the necks on all races are abnormally elongated. They did this to accomodate necklaces that are actually all more akin to chokers.
