One way around it, put a crystal up for sale for the amount you want to transfer, i.e. 200,000 by the alt you want the money on, then buy it with your main character. Sure you'd have to pay the MB tax, but it cuts out any middle man that might be willing to rob you.

This is a good idea. To expand on it... Anytime you are buying something expensive, it is worth noting the city it's being sold out of by the sellers icon on the market board. You can then travel to that city's market board to make the purchase to avoid the tax. I think this also might prevent the seller from being taxed as well but not sure on that part.
