I'd just like to add that the only reason other games restrict in the name of class identity is so roles are easily identifiable in PVP. Currently glamours are already disabled when you enter a PVP instance. So any legitimate reason for class identity currently, is bunk. You can already wear the ridiculous and it affects nobody's PVP experience, so why not just fling open the gates at this point?

No actually it's quite easy to comprehend. Producer/ Director Yoshida already answered this question. Accept the answer, or don't, i really couldn't care.

His answer is that he doesn't want tanks to wear healer gear and vice versa. His answer is incorrect in the sense that tanks can ALREADY wear mage gear. His 'image' isn't being portrayed in game. Case and point example:

My Paladin in the starter mage equipment. There is literally nothing stopping my tank from glamouring this. According to Yoshi this shouldn't be possible as I'm ruinning the image, but it is.
People want healers to get the same treatment. Keep the fancy sets/AF armor separate etc. But this whole 'we don't want tanks wearing healer armor image' reason is b.s., clearly.

    Just to add to this
Tanks can wear Level 47, Item level 50 Mage robes as well which I find very interesting.

My idea of job restriction removal would not count the iconic AF sets obviously as they clearly identify roles and are somewhat of a reward for achieving the last level of a class. But I have to refute your argument when it comes to some of the other gear sets. I do not propose to open all gear sets to all classes. That would be a careless decision and Yoshida is not known for his carelessness. Following a logical vision, the glamour system could be refined to better suit an original approach to a gear set that could satisfy many ideals for characters.

I understand your point of view but from my point of view... The system is sightly flawed and Yoshida's answer was vague as he clearly misunderstood the question and situation.

He himself said he was going to open a forum section to discuss about changes and requests to the glamour system so his words are not ironclad. He knows there are some changes to be made despite his answer. As long as they remain in the vision of the game, he's willing to make adjustments but what needs to be done is a full overhaul of the system as individual changes will only correct the situation over a very long period of time and only if the Japanese community request it with enough intensity.

We feel that it would confuse the new players if they see casters in heavy armor and tanks in mage gear.

    Thanks for the new Staff

It's way too late to argue immersion at this stage.

The sad part about that whole claim is it went right out the window the moment players could hide their weapons and run around wearing snowman outfits, yukata's and everything under the sun for glamors >_>

o.O I really don't see why. Care to explain or is this just some sort of weird mental thing on your part? White Mage running around in bikini...makes sense. White Mage running around in what is basically fancier early level outfits...impossible to comprehend?
