Need some advice (New Scholar)

Hmm, Scholar was my main a while back. I play it from time to time, absolutely love it! Here's my two cents:

--Be Proactive: Hulan nailed this. Scholar is optimized to prevent damage before it happens. Knowing fights is essential. Get that Adloquiem on the tank before that huge hit, cast a Virus on the boss too. Succor the party before raid wide AoE. Use Eos wisely to help mitigate damage with Fey Covenant, if the tank is in need of massive heals, Fey Illumination is your Divine Seal (and a bonus for a WHM in the party).

--Learn to Stance Dance: As WHM you probably already know how to do this, but as most raid groups expect Scholar to pull a small amount of DPS, it's important to know how to set yourself up for success. Most of the time it will just mean a quick Adlo on the tank, Cleric Stance, DoT, switch back and resume healing.

--Control Eos: Yeah, never leave her on auto. If you haven't already, you'll see her use Whispering Dawn because the Dragoon in the party took 7 damage from a mechanic. Total waste. I gotta say I let Selene fly by herself all the time. She's pretty intuitive, always keeps her buffs on rotation, and unless you need silence, I don't see why you'd bother controlling her.

--Hotbar Eos: Touching on the info above, hot bar Eos' skills and get comfortable doing something like this: Physick tank, target NIN during GCD, embrace, back to tank and physick, switch to other DPS to embrace, etc. A lot of Scholars macro embrace to their healers. I personally find it buggy, and apparently it doesn't cater to my laziness, because in certain fights it's nice to just let the Fae heal the DPS when you know they won't be taking damage again any time soon (fireballs in T7, meteor stream in T9, etc.)

--Use All of Your Tools: This might be what confuses me most. Eye for an Eye is amazing. Virus is amazing. Fey Covenant and Fey Illumination are amazing. If you're doing serious content, make sure to use them. So many Scholars just let them sit there and it makes me Q.Q.

So you can control her embrace. You just went on about how you use Eos' Embrace, you can do the same thing with Selene. Also you get to dictate when and which of Fey Glow/Light go off.

I use to never use Selene as I felt Eos was enough but lately I've only been summoning Selene and I could never make her go Auto, I want some control over what she does.

Also her Silence is pretty potent in some situations.
