Posting this one for the WHM I was with in Brayflox NM (As a SCH main myself, I can sympathize with his plight).

It starts, as these things often do, with the tank. For once, he was appropriately geared. To be fair, he did say that it had been a while for him, but what happened was a bit beyond the pale. He had a tendency to body pull, then would throw one axe at a galago and call it good without doing anything else, so every time it would run after the healer and I'd have to break off to off tank. Still, we manage to muddle through until we get to Aiatar. We wiped. Badly. Several times, each time with the WHM running out of mp before we died. As the deaths stacked up, it became obvious that the tank was literally just standing and taking every aoe he could, not quite pulling the dragon out of the pools to stop it from healing... Not a pretty sight.

We did eventually defeat him, but I didn't know Aiatar could take a full two-bar LB, then live long enough to see a second LB.

Exactly. I'm not sure why anyone would actually want to take the stun, anyway; I'd rather that the DPS keep DPSing than eat a stun. It's not like the sludge/tail screw mechanic is difficult to handle.

Just clensing the sludge itself is not that hard even when everyone takes it you can get it off everyone before tail swipe as long as nobody is stacking up and taking two stacks of sludge. It's nice if there is a DRG in the party or something that can stun but passing the debuff from the tank is just over complicating things and has little reward compared to if the dps can just trust the healer and go all out attack.

Holy crap. That's ridiculous.

Did anyone try to corrext how the tank was handling Aiatar? He sounded like he was new to the dungeon... Even though he said "it's been a while." Maybe he was new to tanking?

I don't have many bad stories. Its when you get the tank that doesn't listen to you at all and does their own thing. Like i get you're new, but still we are trying to help. I feel bad, but i have just left.

Story 1 of 2


Was in Brayflox normal mode with my lvl 50 sch, trying to help a guildie level. The tank was also a part of the guild, a lvl 40 paladin. Altho she did not seem confident enough to mark mobs...so she would ask me or a DPS to mark for her. And even tho she was level 40...she did not seem to know where she was going, constantly asking where to go.

She would wonder around, spawning the mobs that would kill the goblins without knowing, then she would ask why there was no treasure. I started to wonder if she had even been here before. She also did NOT rotate her hate combos at all, so hate was bouncing around...but all this is still very much bearable for me compared to the norm.

That all changed when we got to Aiatar tho XD. It started normal, but then I noticed the fight was taking longer then it should...I looked and saw that Aiatar was standing in not one, but TWO poison puddles and getting health back rapidly. Me and my friend told the tank to move the dragon out, but it never happened. Even with my aetherflow's and energy drains I was almost out of mana...luckily my friend was a bard and used mage's ballad. The fight lasted about 8 times longer then the usual, it was horrid.

I asked why she never moved the dragon afterword and she stated it was cause she was out of TP and could not use Shield lob <<......turns out she spammed lob till she was out of TP. What was interesting is that she said she learned everything from a guildie who gave her advice. Was not very good advice I suppose, she also thought provoke used TP. I attempted to give her proper pally advice, but was met with a lot of resistance at first. So I kinda gave up XD.

In the end I was left pretty stressed out, but i have had worse.


Story 2

Was in stone vigil normal on my sch for my daily low level roulette. We got a pally, BLM and dragoon. First thing I notice is that the tank refuses to use shield oath even when asked. And then more things start to pop up...more obvious ones....this tank NEVER flashed...and only AUTO ATTACKED the one mob he would target. So all other mobs wound up eating my face every pull. BLM drops the party only to be replaced by a NIN. We continue on despite my bad feeling about this....it continues this way, even with me and the NIN begging the pally to at least flash. I know he was not a bot cause he would respond with emotes to what we would say. At this point I started to think he was trolling.

This was further confirmed by the NIN stating that this tank was from his server and has done this type of thing before. The dragoon proceeded to get angry at me and the NIN for telling the pally how to tank, stating that he does not care. I told him he would care if he had to heal...to which he responded that he still would not care.

I shrugged it off and managed to spam heal the team all the way to the final boss....the tank then TAKES OFF HIS ARMOR and FACES THE DRAGON TWORDS US ON PURPOUS! he would even AIM him at us when we moved. So yeah...if it was not obvious he was a troll before it was now.

By some miracle we cleared it....now I know it would have probably been smarter to just have left...but I did not wanna give him the satisfaction.

Was in Shiva with a group that had awesome peeps, but we were struggling a lil, so it was taking a little longer than expected - that's not at all the horror story as I don't mind things like that.

What I DO mind is my computer deciding, in the middle of the fight, "derp. GUESS WHAT. *Suddenly shuts down all programs and puts itself through an update. Shuts down, restarts and takes a year to do it's shit after any automatic update* CHICKEN BUTT!"
I'm sitting there thinking, "Oh @#$% no......." *Mega-head desk*

I hope my group didn't think I upped and left them. ._. I'm not that kind of person.

My co-healer and I were healing pretty hard and everyone was doing everything we could - so I hate that I had been forced to be spirited away like that -_- The nightmare is doing as much as possible and then abandoning those depending upon you.

*Jabs the auto-update feature in the face* Didn't even think about turning it off since that's just never happened to me, before, in all my years owning this comp -_-; I guess I was just lucky up till now. *hunts it down*

I haven't really experienced anything that bad recently, except for the occasional "I'm just going to jump around and only cast cure/physick" co-healer in thornmarch(mainly)/8-man content. Some people would say there is nothing wrong with this, that if cure is healing enough the WHM doesn't have to do anything else. I disagree and I hope most of you do as well, because while we are healers we can also DPS and support with cooldowns. If the other healer (me) is using their full kit to heal the team and support, I find it insulting when the other healer just jumps around. If I'm healing well enough solo, please go CS and DPS.

The only other thing I have to say: Healers, SMN and BLM (if you have either of them set). Please, please use Virus and E4E. There is no reason not to other than if they are already applied. But there is no reason that in Thornmarch (I've been doing this a lot lately), or any other content where you need to have an OT and MT, that both Tanks shouldn't have E4E on and their more powerful targets (Boss/heavy hitting mob) shouldn't have Virus on them. Especially when there is a SMN and/or extra SCH. SMN you have these moves powered up, please use them. They are instant, cost zero MP and are off the GCD so don't use the excuse that it'll lower your DPS. WHM if you have E4E (imo you should) use it. Virus? Same thing and you learn it easier.

I'm not saying most don't, I've just noticed a lot who don't when I'm in 8-man parties.

So I was helping some new people get their syrcus tower clear for the first time. I won' lie my white mage has been on a bit of a break for a while but I got back into practice. So we're doing this and all the dps save one consistently stand in aoe's, taking more damage than I can deal with at once, and dying. So they start whining. At first I just roll my eyes and just move on. By Amon it was getting worse, like way worse. They weren't killing slimes and it seemed like I was silenced more than actually casting. Of course they die... again. This time they're absolutely obnoxious. Telling the alliance we need heals. They tell to quit standing in stuff. At this point, and this is the best part, the other healer chimes in and says we got this they just have to quit ignoring mechanics. Say what? What have you done this entire dungeon but stand there? The other whm didn't even bother to go into cleric and dps. Yeah, hard to heal 8 people that won't dodge or even try. Makes me wonder why I bother.

Just finished a Brayflox NM run and I can confidently say I've never had a worse party. Three friends who basically spent the entire time pulling as much crap as possible, running around in circles and taking days to kill one thing, then getting pissed at me because I wasn't healing them. Sorry, but its hard to heal when I'm perpetually at 40MP, and you are all stealing aggro and pulling every mob you can find at once. We managed to clear on the second attempt at Aiatar (a NIN aggroed him on the first try with two comet chasers on them, and I with 300MP), at which point the tank mocks me and the DPS insult me. I just told thm to go **** themselves and left. What annoyed me the most was how they only called me Healer and did nothing but criticize me while they purposefully made it damn near impossible to do my job (while waking up and unbinding any enemies I tried to crowd control). I never want to run into their pathetic asses again.

I can say with confidence that you were being trolled. No legitimate group pulls everything in Brayflox NM and then starts playing the blame game (well I suppose some really dumb people might, but these friends sound like a group of trolls).
