Mark people 1-5 and chain1 (chain2 if solo tank). Healers lowest, then melee, then ranged DPS (or adjust based on who is baiting tether and who is most reliable to do a certain job). Priority is 1 2 3 4 5 chain1 chain2. Lower = break charm, higher = break rolling thunder.
Macro 1: Tank's orbs <se.5>
Macro 2: Break tethers / orb cleanup <se.3>
Alternate throughout the fight based on judgment. Did this in DF and cleared fine once everyone understood the order (and with one healer who flat-out didn't).
The only part that requires much thought is the transitions between phases since people might die, or tank might not have an orb to overcharge after Judgment Bolt if needed.
Cleared this fight a few times with my FC, wasn't too bad. If you know the mechanics it only takes a few practice runs to get it down. However, I started doing it with DF to farm the spear (FC didn't really wanna do it anymore) and it has been a nightmare. There's always a couple people who don't know the fight and it completely ruins it. I've found, though, that the biggest hurdle in this fight using DF is the add phase. For whatever reason, people just do not seem to be able to start at 6 o'clock and move clockwise. It is always explained at the beginning of the fight, but when the add phase comes around, even on the third or fourth try, Im usually the only person fighting the add at 6 o'clock. And we wipe. The add phase is pretty easy when everyone is targeting the same add. (Except when you've got 2 melee with thunderstorm at the same time trying to run out from the edge but there are thunderstorms all over the place and everyone is trying to run away from eachother but all end up going in the same direction and we get triple overlapped and die XD)
But I finally just cleared it in DF for the first time! Got lucky enough to have a great party, even with 2 new people. No spear thobut still good times. Overall I find that fight really fun. But to add to the OP's point, yeah, using DF I got 1 clear out of probably 20-30 overall tries. So using DF to farm it is pretty impossible unless you're lucky.

The main problem I've encountered in PF/DF isn't people not knowing the mechanics, it's people getting tunnel vision and not paying attention to what's going on around them. Just the other day in a PF group the BLM and I got Chaotic Strike and ran to the marked point like you're supposed to. To their credit, the person marked with #1 DID come over to free us... except they weren't paying attention to the fact that we were already targeted by a natural thunderstorm, and then one of the healers didn't seem to notice that they had thunderstorm too and were standing very close to the Chaotic Strike point, so the end result was me and the BLM getting hit by triple thunderstorms and dying. Stuff like that is what causes 98% of the wipes I've experienced.
I beat Rex with a DF group. It was my first try ever and I main as a tank. It was the most fun i have had in a fight in ages. PLEASE DO NOT NERF IT!!
You can also take your own advice and stop whining. The fight is easy enough as it is. Second coil didn't really need to be nerfed as badly as it was either, so that's not a really good comparison. It sounds to be more of a player skill problem on your side to be blunt - it's asinine to request content to be dumbed down for thousands of other players who are already capable of beating the fight and don't want to see the game turned into more of a loot piñata. Yes, people do play this game for some challenge still /shocked. It would be one thing if there was a setting that allowed for "unnerfed" modes of fights (oh wait, normal and hard mode fights in Heavensward should help stifle this in the future).
I still feel this is too Hard on a DF group and it needs a SMALL nerf. This fight is old and at what point do you let solo, non-FC players just move on. Pleae remember not everyone is Hard Core and wants 1 fight in the game to hold them back forever. Trying to clear EX fights late in a Patch is always a pain many players. And NO,"get good" is not awswer while solo Q'ing for EX fights in DF. This is still a Team game.
You said it yourself ironically - it's a team game. Form a PF of players or find some friends and learn the fight together and compete it. Asking for nerfs to group content when you want to be anti-social and queue solo is a tad silly.
Hello, some players have no choice but to solo Q for these fights. Fact is as time go's by in a patch many players will not join a "just looking to clear PF." Now say farming a you'll get a team.
I've cleared them. I want other players to be able to clear them and move on from old content and not be stuck forever. I know of many players in this boat, still trapped behind the wall of T5 with no one coming help them.
There are PFs every day on my server for T5, Ramuh, etc. I'm on one of the sleepiest servers as well. The content can be downed and there are people willing to put together groups for it because it's still fun and challenging. The challenge level is also so low already that they are almost loot piñatas as it stands. Any further nerfs would literally be walking into the zone and open a treasure chest.Hello, some players have no choice but to solo Q for these fights.
