Then there's that fact they shot themselves on the foot the moment they branched two jobs off a single class to save costs, so they'd also need to make both SMN and SCH entirely different, which would take even more resources. I think it'd be worth it in the end, and they certainly have the resources they need to do it especially with all that cash shop money, but who knows.

Despite all the complaining from nostalgic Summoners, you do know there are people that like the job how it is now, right? There are people that like it as a dot/pet job.
