Did your race help determine your job ?

When I first started, I went Migo'te stats were the second thing I looked at, wanted to start as Lancer so looked at the Job Armor preview, and just liked how it looked on Miqo'te female. Got DRG to 50, then saw a Lala in full Wyrm set for the first time...When I got my free Phantasia, I switched to Lala. EVERYTHING just looks more adorable on a Lala.

For me it was the opposite. I mentally picked my job first and then picked the race that best fix it (stat-wise). At the time I mained a healer and the best race/clan combo for healer was Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te at 23 MND and 22 PIE. I have had a lot of regrets though since launch, as the sheer number of Miqo'te running around is off-putting. If the new race appeals to me I'll probably Fantasia to it, stats be damned.

Not all at all, it just wasn't human, elf, or oompa-loompa (srry lalas), and just found round roe not interesting enough to beat out miqo'te. KoD having ideal stats for healing (although neglible) was just a pleasant coincidence. Looking forward to the new race since boatloads will switch from Cat(and a bit from other races) to Lizard. Then people can whine about there being too many lizards for a change.

You might want to consider staying as a Miqo'te, the Au Ra are probably going to be really populous as well, at least when it first launches.

I think Black Mages are the only job that may actually "demand" a race to support their style. Those few points difference in Piety could very well be the difference between having another Fire cast in their rotation or not.

I chose Lalafell based on being a Taru from FF11. I've always liked the "underdog" type hero, always planned on leveling all the jobs. Fits in my perception of being DoM oriented now.

i always wanted to view my characters armor in big people model form, even in ffxi days, but the taru way of life had me... plus i wanted to main tank for once and i though a lala tank is just awesome.
