    Gil buyers, obviously.

My personal issue with the selling of runs is not the clear itself but that it encourages gil buying to an absurd degree. If SE were to enforce a mass deletion of 'illegitimate' gil like they did back at launch I guarantee those selling runs would lose almost everything they had.

I really don't think that's a reportable offense at all. Why would they do that? What does it accomplish?

Why? Seriously, I'd like to know why people think this way.

The only thing I hate about them is they sound like gold sellers when advertising in shouts / alliance chats so I usually blacklist them lol. But if people want to piss all kinds of money away on runs instead of actually PLAYING the game they are paying for (cuz learning how to play your class well and do your own content is the point of FFXIV's end game besides the normal socializing / making friends that's in all MMOs) then they are wasting their real life subscription money on top of their gil in my opinion. I don't see anything morally wrong with selling runs I just think these players are dumb for paying for a game they don't want to play.

I've mixed feelings about selling runs, on one part I really don't care if they buy or not runs, they can do whatever they want with their money and by that getting something in return, on my part I've never bought any run tho I kinda want to ; In my case I'll end up travelling soon to another country for a month and recently I just hit the wall after some weeks of not playing in Xiv now I can't progress and got stuck on T9, my skill level is pretty decent by being a tank and a healer , I can mark , I know everything on t9 and by that I shouldn't have a single problem getting over with t9 and just beating it in some shots but no one does t9 on my server or most of the people are new just got into learning t9 and they wipe at golem phase or even before that, I can't do more than just explaining them and teaching since is a teamwork but someone can do too much before collapsing and getting tired of it.
And that's where selling runs comes handy sometimes, even if I don't like it

Not always, that's a base assumption that everyone who had more than 1 million gil in the game is buying gil.
I know fine rightly that a large number of players who've purchased runs off us are simply avid crafters/gatherers who purchase runs through content.

I can't claim that ALL buyers are like that obviously, it goes without saying some of them probably have bought gil, but with us actually setting up the runs, there's no way for us to tell who is who.

It's optional, no-one has to purchase anything.
The people who purchase the runs value clearing the content or obtaining the drops to that of the gil they've spent on it.

As with everyone other MMO that enables mercenary runs to take place, the developers are completely aware that it's a thing, and simply don't care.

This doesn't happen as often as basic content carries, but there are alot of generally good players who simply cannot find a group capable of clearing content they've missed out on (Moogle Ex/Levi/Ramuh/T5) so they buy the run for the clear, or even the loot in current content, simply just because they're fed up of bad loot luck.

There's a pelethora of reasons why people buy runs, just because YOU don't want to buy runs doesn't mean others think the same.

The largest downside of the carries on some occasions would be if we clear someone through T6-9, or even the FC's clearing T10-12/3 for people, it sets a false president on that persons record from the loot that they have that they're "Capable" of clearing that content.

HOWEVER, if that players is incapable of clearing that content after purchasing it, it won't matter. Everyone group they run with will IMMEDIATELY know that they have NO idea what they're doing.

Back in 2.0 when we had to pug people for coil, we would ask "Have you cleared this Turn?"
"Yes! I have!" they would say, then proceed to make mistakes you'd expect from a first-timers, so what did we do to suss them out before we entered in future?

"Okay, so you're ready for Turn 2?"
    "YES!"
"Right, okay. So you know how to fight the dragons right? Dodge the dragons flame breath etc?"
    "Yes, that mechanic is easy"

Now I got a linkshell with all the friends I made who played well (26 people) and I can run any content I want with these people even older content. We all help each other and we all play well.

Instead of paying for runs, remember that MMOs are massive social networks too. Make friends and you can do anything.
^ This is the better option always, sadly for older content it's genuinely harder for newer players to beat some of the older content.

I personally do both, if people want help clearing T5/Ramuh Ex and they ask I'll happily join them and bring as many friends as I can.

When it comes to us selling runs, we do it completely separately to this. We're offering a service for people who are simply fed up or don't want to bother doing it the other way.
There's no need for anyone to use it, but people like to rush. So if people are willing to pay for our time/experience, it seems unfair that most people would pin it as "NEVER BUY ANY, ITS BAD!"

I love how I've skimmed through this entire thread and the one thing I'm still focused on is the fact that the going rate for t9 on one server is 12m. That's f---ing bananas. And people complain that Sargatanas's prices are ridiculous. Might refer any complaining inquiring buyers to this thread from now on. Lawl.

Totally understand what you're saying ,I wish things were like that on my case and I've done it in this game and others games too and even if I wanted to buy a run I couldn't even afford it , they're at 12m on my server , also had some people who were up for LS,parties and yada yada, and helped them a lot by teaching them and telling them everything I could , but once they get a clear on some of the content they wont help back and give some random excuse like : My fish is drowning , busy with something , etc.

And just twice I've got help in this game to clear content and was for Shiva and t7.
And most of the time the option given are : Give up or just suck it up and keep trying.

@Shioban, wow you're still using that sig!

I guess that on most server, people who sell runs are fixing together prices. On Cerberus, T9 price is 12M. The thing is that only one FC (people from Cerberus will probably recognize which FC i'm talking about) and especially one group is fixing price for everyone and it created some problem to sellers because a certain group is selling for 12M T9 and another one for 7M, titan ex for 5M and another one for 500k. It came to that, people who got undercuted are reporting the other group for undercuting their price.
I wanna know what you think about this kind of stuff.
    Titan ex for 5m?

Just how inflated is the economy in cerberus?

I am wondering that myself. After seeing this thread go up, I did a little checking on the prices of these things on my server. Most are substantially less than what the OP said they were on his/her server.
