I was fine with xp loss.

It doesn't matter what they pick for a death penalty people are going to complain.

Here's my point: It absolutely does not matter what they put as a death penalty, as long as there are people who can only play for a few hours a week, they will always have less resources to work with than someone who can play a few hours a day.

(bold for emphasis) ~ Of course if you only play a few hours a week, then you will most likely die much less than someone who plays a few hours a day. Balancing it out in the end anyway (Unless the person is really terrible)

I didn't see one person think of or mention that :P

I remember distinctly seeing someone shouting 6+ hours for high level repairs early on in the game. It made me decide that I would always stop levelling a job until I could repair all the stuff for whatever level I was at. lol I'm glad I did now. I can repair everything on the spot (great when your gear's falling apart from the dungeons).
Thankfully, I found crafting to be no less mind-numbingly tedious than battle classes (and considerably less frustrating).

I believe the devs are now looking into adding repair/vendor npcs at all camps and by the dungeons.

If you want to get repairs the best thing to do for getting quick repairs:
    1) bunch up the same craft's repairs - the less job changing someone has to do to repair you the better. (and shout for the repair of the highest level item)
    2) Carry the various grades just in case. someone might be willing to repair it but not carry the grade with them.
    3) Try to be more detailed in your shouts - rather than just say 'can someone repair my stuff' (When I'm crafting I usually won't bother to stand and check what someone has up for repairs.) listing the level of the gear, type of repair and especially the reward amount can especially encourage people to repair your stuff.
    4) when shouting position, that's a very large area with potentially lots of people to load in, try to stand near a npc or landmark to help orient the person looking for you.

Standing overnight next to a repair NPC also seems to help (or in front of the crafting guild that does the repairs)

I don't know how it is that people have so many problems with repair. I put my stuff up for repair at a cost of 1k per grade of dark matter. I stand by the NPC repair retainer. I go Bio, I come back, its repaired. I put up the rest of my gear, I grab a drink, I come back, its repaired. On a bad day, it takes all of 15min. Its not expensive - I can recoup that much gil in a single leve - and its not slow. I fail to see the issue. If it matters, I'm on Besaid, which I understand is one of the top three next to Wutai and Lindy in terms of population, so maybe that's part of it.

Maybe if people paid more than 5k gil for a rank 5 repair, you wouldn't have to wait so long.

I find I can get repairs easily enough if I put up the required grade of DM for the repair as the payment.

I think claiming that players who choose to level up crafts and can therefore repair their gear "easily" have some unfair advantage over others is based on incorrect assumptions. Just because a crafter has any given craft leveled up, that doesn't mean that player didn't have to go through the exact same weapon repair process as any other player. As you are leveling up a craft, your crafting weapon breaks just like any other class, your gear breaks as well - and usually you will require the services of another player who has leveled a different crafting class in order to repair that weapon/gear. Also, when a crafter repairs their own gear - it isn't as if the Dark Matter Moogle magically deposited a stack of free dark matter in their inventory. They have to either farm it or buy the item just like any other player.

Suggesting that it isn't fair for a non crafting class to have to pay for repairs is unfounded. Crafters have to spend a lot of time and gil to level their craft. It takes far, far longer to level a craft - there are fewer leves, no party options whatsoever, no Guardian's Aspect, no crafting behests etc. You must solo grind a craft. Getting to the point where you can finally repair all ranks of the items within your craft is hardly a free or easy ride in this game. Any crafter has already paid in time sinks and their own gil in order to reach r50 for that privilege.

I spend part of my play time checking for repairs in town whenever I am around and usually will repair any items I am capable of repairing, as long as I am not losing gil on the repair. If someone is stuck waiting for hours for a repair after the recent patch, then chances are the player has put up a bazaar offer that is lower than the NPC cost of the repair item itself. I have been known to repair for 0 profit, but I am not going to repair at a loss.

As for the death durability issue ... I do agree that the % is high. I'd love to see that amount go down.

Be social... step outside your bubble.. ask for a raise...ask for repairs... don't play solo all the time... repairs still ludicrously cheap... gil offset still uber high and easy to make money... that is all >.>

why should we offer anything more than 5-6k when the repair item is not only 4.5k from a vendor but is also a very common drop from the r45 dungeon...and gathering...Anyone who wants anything more than 5-6k for a repair that uses such a common item is just silly.

Healer strike is ridiculously foolish and accomplishes nothing

Durability loss is 1000% better than SP loss.
