Getting 75 Alexandrite isn't the hard part, it's melding the Tier 4 materias (if you are that way inclined). If they want to tone in down in order to get people to catch up, then they should lower the total of materia needed, or improve melding rates. 13/14 Tier 4 Crits can break the bank for most people. Especially as the last ones have a good chance of failing.
Just wait til you get to light farming <<; you can't help out others on any other job (well you can but you won't get your relic lights you need), you're pretty much doomed to play that job for either 2000 FATES/maps or about 1250 dungeons/primal fights based on what light is from them. Alexandrites from DR EX maps and buying maps with myth was a breeze compared to this grind.
Light farming is at least a matter of time and not completely dependant on RNG. With Alexandrite, it's RNG 100% of the way through. Spiritbond? RNG determines what kind of materia you get. Gil making? Play the market--a special brand of RNG all its own, the people kind. And then, there's a potential fail rate when melding it.

If you don't like RNG, ignore it.
Do daily expert roulette, buy the maps with soldiery and buy the alexandrite with allied seals. Ignore the FATEs and farming 75 Alexandrite will be time based.

I know lots of people immediately react with "we don't need to nerf the grind", but my own personal experience is that after hundreds of fates over the last few months with animus and novus weapons, I have received exactly ONE alexandrite from fates. The drop rate is so pathetic compared to other farming methods, that only a complete mad man would focus on fate grinding for them.
oh and they should drop the animus grind to 1 kill, 1 dungeon, 1 leve and 1 fate. Also don't forget to lower the Soldiery needed for the books to 100sol, and the amount of books needed to just one. Seriously, you don't have to do these weapons, it's just something to keep you busy.
