Not particularly (other than dat accent), I was just seeing it for the first time before I read your comment and it seemed topical.
Looking forward to the FFXV crossover event where Cid (XIV) and Cidney (XV) hook up, though.
I do hope our Cid doesn't trade his beard for a rack in the World of Darkness though, or you know, disappear/die for a bit... Wouldn't be the first time a Cid (or even this Cid...) has done such a thing, and if anyone should get stuck in the World of Darkness it should be Nero.
Well they could always put in a extra lore in FF14 and reveal that Cid has a daughter named CidneyNot particularly (other than dat accent), I was just seeing it for the first time before I read your comment and it seemed topical.

Back on topic:
I doubt anything like that will happen to Cid. Most likely we will escape all fancy action style and then one big cliffhanger ending to foreshadow Cid and Nero's role in 3.0 Main Storyline.
I think a lot of people would be angry to see the beard gone
I can see it now... Cid and Nero finally bury the hatchet before running into a Calamity orphan. 3.0 fluff fetch quests will revolve around helping Cid and Nero care for their adoptive daughter: Cidney.Well they could always put in a extra lore in FF14 and reveal that Cid has a daughter named Cidney

In all seriousness though, I don't think I expect Nero to make it out. He may redeem himself in the end by saving Unei (he certainly tried at the end of Scyrus Tower), but I can't see him coming back... Well, I can see Cid getting trapped their for a while and Nero taking over for a bit... I just can't see what else they can do with him at this point.

I would question why you even come to that conclusion but I worry it would only fuel more of your fantasy.
So back on the topic:
We don't really know much about Cid's personal life. His background lore has mostly been focused on his career and how it was affected by his father and the people around him.
I won't be surprised if he had a girlfriend before he left the Garlean Empire and never knew he was a father due to leaving before learn about his own child existance.
Though that would give SE a reason to put Cid's son or daughter as a temporary antagonist working as a Garlean Engineer before he or she turns Protagonist.

Well, if Nero survives I imagine it would be more NeroxUnei with a daughter (adoptive because I seem to recall Scyrus cutscenes mentioning clones being infertile) named Cidney being a homage to his great rival, but I doubt the game will progress that far.
Nero "settling down" is the only real way I can see him remaining, since "I'm Cids rival" isn't really going to carry his story ark through 3.0, in my opinion at least. He can die/get trapped, die/get trapped redeeming himself, replace Cid for a time to switch things up ("I'm only helping you so I can one day settle things with my rival", etc), or just quietly exit stage left with Unei at the end of things. I guess he could work together with Cid in 3.0, but I can't see why he would.
Whether he wanted to save her, or wanted to save her to use her power is irrelevant. He still wanted to save her. One hopes if he is going to redeem himself it will be because being pulled into a literal world of darkness because of his "evil" actions will make him reconsider his ways.
1) Didn't he say he couldn't return during one of the Scyrus Tower cutscenes? May have been lying I guess, but I do find it likely that the whole XIVth and VIIth Legion are basically outlaws in their home country after their colossal failures, it would explain why a few of the (Drest?) aren't simply walking by to the nearest Castrum.1)Most likely Nero may return to the Garlean Empire after CT if he survives or 2) become a wanderer seeking ancient allegan knowledge for power while crossing path with Cid due to discovery of Ancient Secrets (most likely the raids that will be the successors to CT raid).
2) That's exactly my problem with it... They'd just be repeating Crystal Towers story as far as Cid and Nero go. Nero wants to get into Allagan Ruin #294, Cid wants to seal Allagan Ruin #294, hijinks ensure.
I'd rather just see Nero redeem himself, get on with his life, and maybe return if Cid has a moral crisis and needs someone to remind him what to do.

You heard correct, Nero and pretty much any garlean figure in eorzea from the XIVth or VIIth legion are exiled. XIVth for invading eorzea against the high legatus's orders and VIIth for putting their faith in a primal and almost destroying the world.1) Didn't he say he couldn't return during one of the Scyrus Tower cutscenes? What makes you think he wanted to save her? It was more like he wanted the power for himself. In all seriousness though, I don't think I expect Nero to make it out. In all seriousness... I don't think Cid is done with Eorzea. Have you seen what they've shown of Machinist? That has Cid's name all over it and I have little doubt he will have a hand in it. If the Job was all about the gunplay I'd not say this, but when they tossed out that little drone I was sold on Cid being the Job handler. If it isn't Cid, I will be flabbergasted.
