Except that with current nerfs and how easy tomes are to get, getting to animus is a cake walk. I could care less if they nerf animus/novus/nexus/zodiac steps, as long as I don't have to toss my current relic on a retainer to start a new one. Which if they do toss out relics in 3.0, Myself and I'm sure many others won't even bother with whatever new "relic" they come out with.

Be nice to have comments in this thread associated with what type of relic the user actually owns so one can put their point of view in perspective. Lot of time, money and effort into upgrading relics and I personally doubt many who have done that would like to see all that thrown away and to have to start over. I know I wouldn't.

I own 1 Zodiac, 1 Nexus, 1 Novus, 1 Animus and 6 Zeneith's.

but like i said, you put the time and money in it bacause you wanted to, not because you needed to. As soon as they added certain primal weapons to the game, relic became obsolete. Most people continued because they already started. IDC how much they nerf it, it still takes very very long to lvl up a weapon that is obsolete as soon as you grab say a levi weapon or shiva, or hell, ramuh. And its still a grind. Like i said, most people dont want it to start again because they put too much time into it, but unfortunately, those weapons are not that great. There is no incentive to do relic if you havent started or gotten far in it because other weapons are better right now. People want others to go through what they went through just because. Im tired of hearing..Oh atma drops are easier and blah blah blah. Fighting a primal is easier than trying to do those stupid books. thats why they are going to start a new relic if they continue with such weapons.

I own only two. Only one I got past the Atma stage. Before they nerfed atma. Thats what turned me off from doing it. The grind was too much. Now yes i could go an do relics now. but for what? Do you get a badge for doing every relic quest? Do yo uget some special materia or lots of gil.....You only get the satisfaction of completing it. And then what? you use it for about 2-3 months, that form is obsolete, you have to upgrade it again, doing old content for weeks....its tedious. for a very very tiny reward or no reward at all. Thats what i mean. Right now, only people that have gotten pretty far in the relic quest continue...because you already put in the time and effort, but you don't have to. Its an elitist attitude to say you want everybody else to have to do the same because you did. especially when its not required to complete end game raids and such.

If by "majority", you mean the 10-15% of the entire FFXIV user base who frequents the forums then the response you'll most likely get is "yes" since people feel entitled to what they worked towards and that it should reflect to others their achievements. IMO "entitlement" is what causes people to think this game is P2W when it's not, it's just SE poorly implementing obvious cash-grabs through over-priced vanity add-ons (i.e. odin mount).

Personally, I think it should start a new quest entirely since people who played the original relic will always have that as glamour and proof of their dedication, like a badge that says to people in 3.0 "yeah I did all those grinds and got this awesome glowing weapon, so what?" Plus starting a new quest allows new players or those who haven't bothered/stopped the original relic quests to start fresh and have everyone on even footing.

You say no one would be running the dungeons/fights needed, but as long as they keep relic relevant, people WILL still be doing the content. Even now, there are people still working on ALL stages of relic.

Keeping that around just for that sole purpose is a bit wasteful. And if only those people doing the relic quest are doing that content, then queue times are going to be pretty high.

And before anyone starts with the whole "too lazy and such comments" i play this game for fun. It shouldn't feel like a job. doing current relic quest started feeling like i was punching in to work as soon as you got to the ATMA stage. Most people do not find that fun, especially when you had people putting in lots of time farming for random drop for a weapon that wasn't all that great. Im sorry, if they made the relic weapons worth the effort, then yes, keep them. But all these people crying about them getting rid of current relic, i want you to sell new players. Make a pitch right here on this forum. Convince the people why Relic is worth doing at this junction in the life of this game. What are the benefits? why should i care? What makes it better and worth the effort than other weapons that are easier to collect?

Not really. Any new players are going to be doing all the original dungeons anyway. SE have done a pretty good job of making all content stay fairly active. Relic is a good way to continue this.

As to the thread's original question:

- people who have completed relic will probably say yes
- people who have not will probably say no.

I think relic should definitely carry over IN SOME FORM. I mean, read the description, it's supposed to be LEGENDARY.

But "lol, screw legendary weapons, let's ignore them and make them meaningless."
