I story a lot of good pug runs, I know x_x
It's just a 'Faith in humanity restored!'
Here, have another one!
So, I was on my BRD in ST, and between the party speak and the bosses spam-flapping their mouths in the chat, I'm hearing my FC mates talking about a pugged healer that was in their party while trying to do a dungeon for one of their relic books. It sounded bad. Really bad. Horror story bad. Multiple wipes bad. I'm usually the FC's healer, but I've been in a BRD mood lately.
When my ST run was done, I scrolled back up through the chat to a recent mention of kicking the decidedly trolling healer and then having me come in and take their place. I've done it a few times when an FC mate is in a pugged party and something happened. I switched to WHM.
It was decided, that with 4 mins left on the timer, there was no sense.
But then I misunderstood a comment and completely lost track of the 4 mins that went by (and apaprently, reality >_>). "You're up, Sase!" Oh goodiegoodie! +_+ *Hit "Join party in progress" and joined that dungeon.... completely forgetting the convo from 4 mins ago. Meaning my FC's dungeon had ended already. And I was still trying to get into theirs. |||OTL
Dropped in on a party in the exact same dungeon (Copperbell HM), whom were missing the same job (healer) in mere -seconds-. I assumed it was my FC's dungeon.
Started to load....
Wait. These names are not my FC.
Ohshit.
Ah.
Thats right.
You dumbass. >_<
"Heyo"
I can't bail on the poor folks. I can imagine how that would feel if I were in their place. I mention this to the FC - luckily they were cool with it (and probably needed to cool down after the sounds of that last run).
I also noticed, after a bit of time, that they hadn't cleared any of the bosses, so they were still near to the beginning. My first thoughts were, "okay... so why are they missing a healer..... was it..... bad? o_o Really bad? or... just the healer had to leave? D/Ced? Or maybe the healer was just bad?".
First good sign - the group seemed friendly in welcoming me before I'd even completely loaded into the dungeon. Okay, well, if they're friendly the whole way through, I can deal with a challenging run if it came down to it.
I catch up, buff everyone and off we go.
It was certainly different - but a good different. I've never run the dungeon quite like this - and it was in no means bad, just a different - faster - method. And I enjoyed that change of pace! Run passed ALL the things in the beginning. Drag ALL the things to the end of the bridge. Tank ALL the things after the second boss. xD
It made me happy - they asked if I was good for a big pull ('big' felt like an understatement right then), rather than just doing it and expecting godliness (like most pugged parties I have).
"yes! At least, I hope so..."
I was still a bit pull-shy from a failure in snow cloak and AV (...long story, mentioned in the 'stare blankly' thread) not too long ago and didn't want to confidently say yes, only to let them down like the last time... but I was reassured I could do it.
The tank was beast.
The DPS were beast.
I didn't even shed a moment of fear in that. *_*
Faith in pugged humanity restored.
Super fast dungeon run (reminded me of the sub-13 minute Bray HM run I once had) and a super awesome group. Why their healer ran off, I'll never know... but more awesome peeps, for me! >
*Oprahs the commendations* You get a commendation, you get a commendation, everyone gets a commendation! *throws commendations like handfuls of confetti*
10/10 would derp into their dungeons again
