Too inconvenient to move around with limited spaces, for instance if you wanted to move a box of 8 to a retainer but the retainer only has like 4 spaces open. You need to move items to move the whole box, or take items out of the box.

Well, given that we have auto-sort functions for our inventories, creating a clear space should be too huge an issue.

Also, for MB sales, that would just encourage people selling boxes of full stacks of items, which would add to the additional difficulty of that moment where you just want a small quantity of something, but everyone is selling in bulk. (In addition to the above memory/data issues, market board sorting is already a nightmare sometimes and this would just add to that.)

People are already selling in bulk.

Sometimes it's better that way. Do you seriously want to buy shards one at a time when what you are crafting requires 99 of them?
