The Unfortunate Nexus: PLDs Who Forgot to Soulglaze One or the Other

Simply just make farming 2000 lights as a one time process for all your relics.

Since now players can farm item in other jobs for Nexus upgrade,
IMO it should not require players farm lights with each relic equipped anymore.

Forgetting to equip the shield at all is your own mistake, just because other phases have made you prioritize one before the other doesn't mean they all will.

It'd have been nice if there was ever any point to getting the shield as its never been worth it to use, the allagan shields have been so much better and easier to get, I'd prefer it if the sword and shield were completely different quests

However its easy to get your sword and shield at different lights, I myself have my sword at 1800 lights and my shield at about 1750 due to not using it to learn any hard content and not getting the high allagan sword to drop.

My sword is 120 light behind because I made that mistake, but it is MY mistake, not Square's. So it is up to me to fix it and not try to use puppy sad eyes to get things done.

Why would it not soul glazed? Is there a reason to not soul glazed why is the step even needed? And the whole is new to me so I was not aware of the process

It's not gonna be soul glazed until you do the quest. It doesn't just automatically become soul glazed once Novus. It's not part of the Novus quest at all. It's part of the Nexus quest. I'm confused why you're not aware of any of this. Every single relic quest except Zenith had you do some sort of quest involving Jalzahn. So why does this confuse you? Did someone else do everything for your relic before this lol?

Thank for the pure insult, but i did all my relic all by myself and for the record i80 to i90 has no quest is a different set up by handing in to the station beside it is a totally different set up for a first timer this is very confusing for me on the novus part but i am sorry i cannot be as smart as you that been said we done here

SE could easily make it so both weapons for the pld are souglazed at the same time to prevent player from "forgetting" to do it. In the pic that Coatl provided, they could easily move the shield to the same line as the sword and just put & in between.

From there, whether or not the player equips both for light farming is another matter.

Eh, honestly, it's right there in black and white (well, purple and white) that you need to glaze both the sword and the shield. This isn't SE's fault at all. I don't see how people not paying attention should entitle them to a free fix for their mistake. I honestly am baffled that you could miss it in the first place; I know when I do my relic quests I carefully read through all of the quest text to make sure I'm doing it right and not missing anything, simply because the relic IS such a huge investment of time and gil. Why take a chance by skimming it?

How do you go through the entire soul attune process and not think ONCE, "oh hey, my sword and shield are constantly identified seperately at both the relic NPC and the soul attune lens".

If your sword is shown as distinct and your shield says no aetheric activity and you still keep doing only the sword, you deserve to have to do that extra 2000 lights.

I could also see an implementation where if you don't have both equipped at the same time, you don't get any Light. Instead, you get a notification stating that you need the other equipped to gain Light.

I feel your pain cause I just made the exact same mistake. I never knew I was wrong till I turned it in and found out shield needed to be soulglazed as well. Nothing indicated I was wrong, didnt know I should be seeing 2 items with the glass. BLM is my main and I got it to Zodiac with no issues, was doing PLD as a side job and never noticed the line below for the shield specifically. True they were always seperate steps, but each step was always 2/3 sword 1/3 for shield (ie 2 thavarian mist for sword/1 mist for shield, 6books for sword/3 books for shield, 2 inks for sword scroll/1 ink for shield scroll, 53 alex for sword meld/22 for shield meld), so if this step was seperate why isnt it like 1400 light for sword and 600 for shield, or even 1000 for shield that way it gets done first like most did when upgrading, then you'd need an additional 1000 to finish sword? So yea, my mistake for being used to a different class and not noticing the specificness of PLD
