Wnere are all the farmers?

Do ya remember back in the day with ffxi, we used to farm stuff like crawlers for silk threads, bees for beehive chips, sheep for sheep skin, and so many others.

But when I look back at all the time I spent leveling and gathering all my stuff for crafting, seemed like 90% of the stuff is from gathering nodes.

I've often see people mining/harvesting/fishing, but I very rarely see people actually farming monsters in this game.

Where are all the farmers?

The lack of rare world drops from trash mobs in the world doesn't really give players a reason to farm anything in the world. Basically send retainers out on normal ventures to gather that trash for you. I hope in the expansion they decide to introduce some horizontal progression and add world drops to trash in the open world so it gives players something to work towards instead of everything being walled behind an instanced dungeon or duty finder queue.

Required crafting items that are dropped by monsters are fairly rare, and they tend to become obsolete fairly quickly. I know that I had to farm Diremite Silk as well as Fleece and Snurble Tufts for a while when I was levelling my WVR, but other than that there weren't many monster-dropped mats that I couldn't buy off the AH for <100 gil each. Everything else I needed I farmed up on a gatherer job, or already had plenty in my inventory from getting a DoM job to 50 (Just from random drops/kills along the way).

Yeah, I did the same thing. I'm talking about the little items like Goobue fangs or sinews.

Well,
- se changed drop rates and amounts from monsters
* i.e diremites usually drop more webs every few or so. 3-7 webs per 2-3 kills.
- the materials are kinda old in a sense so they r only valued for lower old recipes

- retainers happened

Or tamtara hm or anywhere else that has any spiders/scorpions/etc...

I basically ran stuff normally and got a ton of mats and then some just by that for leveling my crafters. And at times even complete random players would stop by and just ask me if I want any of the mats they had on them for no charge. They said I'd junk them one way or another so saw you here and passing it on to you.
